Virgin Broadband Compensation

Hi,

I recently signed up for Virgin Fibre Broadband in London. Initially, they sent an email confirming that the start day would be 17/10/2019. Today (15/10/2019) they informed me this would be delayed until 19/12/2019. A delay of over two months. The reason being they do not have a cable available on my street yet and they need engineers to install one. They do not think they will get it done before the above date.

They said they will put a £60 credit on the account.

My question is, will they have to pay the £5/day compensation in line with the new OFCOM ruling? I am wondering if this is an infrastructural issue out of their control and they may be exempt or should they simply not have promised a 17/10 start date if they could not deliver.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Isn't the £60 quid credit effectively two months? Package depending, of course.
  • It is two months of their package.

However, the OFCOM websites states that when Broadband installation is delayed you are due £5/day.

    *I can't post the link*

I don't think the £60 should supercede the £5/day as the £5/day is clearly worth a lot more.
