Single Person Discount

Are there any Water Companies that provide a single person discount at all? I'm only aware of Council Tax so far.

You have no choice of water company.

If you apply for a meter, and it cannot be fitted for technical reasons, you will be offered an assessed rate. Some(all?) Water companies will give a single person discount on that assessed rate tariff.

No - they are metered and you pay for what you use.

Why would you think you would get a discount on something that you pay for based on what you use? It's like saying I expect petrol to be cheaper because there is only 1 person in the car.

Because I'm a first time buyer and you can get single person discount on council tax. I was simply asking a question if this also applied to utilities, as you are using less than an average household. That is what a forum is for...

Gas and Electric are always metered, so a single person will often pay less as they are using less.

Water can be metered and a single person definitely uses less. My bill went from £65/month on the rateable value based system to £18/month on my actual use of water when I got a meter installed. So again, no single person discount provided or required.

Use of council services isn't metered and the charge is based on property value, so the single occupancy discount makes some kind of sense.
