Asda Man has been and brought me lots and lots of goodies, to the tune of £99.09 out of £170 so far.

Terrible news though, there is NO ROOM in my freezer at all! And there are things that still need to go in it! It's no good, we will have to eat some room into it before the dates are up on what needs to go in.

  • This morning I am the queen of batch cooking and it's only breakfats time! Had a few veggies that needed using up and need to cook for the freezer before going back to work tomorrow. Used peppers, mushrooms and onions in an omlette and the rest were roasted with some aubergine for a ratatouille which is now on the hob. Did realise after the roasting that I forgot to include garlic so thats in the overn now and will hopefully still flavour the ratatouiile even though its being added late!

Once thats donw I'm off to the gym - love going when its quiet in the daytime and this will be the last time I can do that until half term.

Hi can I please join x Struggling a little as I am on maternity leave so eating more at home! my budget will be for me, hubby, little boys milk nappies etc, dog food and all toiletries/household.
Could you please put me down for £300. quite a lot but still trying to work round the cheapest places/times to go shopping lol. For ease this week I did a home delivery from tesco as it is difficult to do a proper shop with the little man. I am hoping that as soon as I can get him into a trolley I can spend time wandering round iceland aldis etc, its just a little awkward with a pram system!
Tesco shop came to £200.10. I 'think' some of this will last to next month! my freezer was virtually empty today too, and nearly £100 of that shop was the baby food/nappies! I have written a menu plan so fingers crossed I will stick to it. I will record any takeout/meals out seperately as i forgot I am meeting up with a friend next friday for lunch!
    good luck everybody x

Could you put me down for £146.00 for September? I should be able to shave £1 a week off the overall figure, I think.
    Better is good enough.

Just tried out a can or 2 of Heinz five beans in an experimental recipe.
    Also added 'the secret ingredient';)

First, I fried up some cheap veggies with herbs of choice. I added a couple of tins of 5B and a glug of the secret ingredient.....

I popped it in a large ovenproof dish.....

Top with anything you prefer: cheesy bread crumbs, pastry, potato slices, etc.

I opted for potato slices as I had some frozen ready to use up....

Not sure what it tastes like yet but the filling was nice on its own :D

    Seems pretty adaptable.
