    Black and White

Honestly, I'm so glad I've finally seen someone else mention this game, it was incredible! Granted, it had its shortfalls, but the unique concept of it at the time was amazing and provided a lot of hours worth of fun. I really wish there was a RTS/God-Sim out that was even 50% as great as B&W1.

We were quite lucky and my dad had a PC back in the very early 90s. I remember playing Theme Park on that. Plus some other cool retro ones I won't bore you with. I then started online gaming around 1998 maybe. For my most played/favourites on the PC it is probably something like

    Dawn of War 1 Series
    Age of Empires 1 & 2
    Close Combat 2 & 3
    Lord of the Rings Online
Heroes of Might & Magic 3 (& expansions)
    Total War Series
    Theme Park/Hospital
    Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 & 2
    Call of Duty 1 & 2
    Medal of Honor (AA/SH/BT)

I don't really play games so much anymore but I had a dabble in World of Tanks the last 6months and sometimes play TW-Warhammer and I like those 2.

Actually these are just my favourite games. I wouldn't take them in the scenario you've described as I've already played them to death!
    Witcher is great

GTA V and Breath of the wild are one of my favorites too. Also most of the people will second your thought because GTA V still possess the big market share in this gaming industry.
