Recommended downshift items from supermarkets

Hi
I down shift all my groceries and household shopping. just wanted to know if anyone had any successful downshift that they could share?

    Morries Savers pickled silverskin onions are the best of the cheapos I have tried.

    Asda ground black pepper is stronger than other own brands I have tried.

    Depends where you live but .... Pakeeza live set natural yoghurt and Lancs. Farm Greek-style yoghurt are great quality and very well priced. Can easily get these brands in Tescon and Morries in West Yorkshire and Lancashire.

    Canned beans, dried lentils, brown basmati rice and ground spices I always get from the World Foods aisle at the Big Four supermarkets.

    Farmfoods for any frozen fruit (3 packs £5) and cooked jumbo king prawns/ boneless Chinese crispy duck (3 packs £10). Not tried enough of their frozen vegetables range to comment.

    Overall, I'd recommend downshifting your supermarket to Aldi or Lidl.


    Then there will be odd bits you can pick up from other stores like Home Bargains, Farmfoods or £ shops.


    It's hard to advise further without knowing what you currently buy.

    I like Aldi because all of their meat is UK sourced. Their vegetables are 50% OK - potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots are fine ... 'soft' veg are appalling and a soggy mess within days.

    i currently buy my food shopping from lidl- but my only issue with that is that it doesnt have store cards with it or online shopping options.
    yes - home bargains is good for spices/ oils and cupboard stables.

    I can't seem to edit my previous post- I find lidl fruit and veg very soggy and doesnt keep well. so usually go to Tesco or Sainsbury's- using their everyday value/ basic range.
