It's not wartime, but I've got Jocasta Innes' Paupers Cook and that's quite good - funny though how some things that used to be cheap are luxuries now0

I had that and gave it away. I forget why. I think maybe the wartime cookery appeals to me because although I hate cooking, I love history0

I love to try out the recipes now and then and most have been a success but I haven't told the family and they haven't noticed :rotfl:
I have a lot of cookery books DH laughs every time a new one comes out and my ickle eyes widen - he just smiles and says if you want it..........
tee hee I soooo loves him.
But seriously I love the older cookery books because they are more geared to today's frugal times and one of my all time favourites is a tatty copy of Family Circle's The Thrifty Cook that I picked up for 20p from a charity shop.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
