Do you mean a citizens advice centre?
Most will only help if you live or work in their area.
Maybe if you can give some basic details about the issue people can signpost you more effectively.

What about their online portal or telephone advice line?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

As SC says, why not give here a chance.

But to answer your specific question, you can go into any CAB. But it will depend on the issue. If it is a national one like applying for UC, then it will most likely be dealt with there and then. If it is a local one where the local CAB has specific information about the area, or has funding for a specific local problem, then best go locally.

If you call the CAB number, you will get your local office if they are free. If not the next local office in the area. If neither then it will be a national call centre e.g. Gateshead or Portsmouth.

So what is the problem and we'll see if you need to go into one e.g. form filling.
Unlike some here, I am not omniscient. If I am wrong correct me. I won't take offence.

The law is like an ocean - have a swim but don't drown.
  • If it's specifically a 'drop in clinic' I don't think you can be refused.
We have a drop in clinic about 10 miles or so away that runs 1st Thursday of every month in a mobile location.

Myself personally I found my local branch within walking distance seem only capable of benefit help and for debt it was a basically more or less please go away, wait weeks to fill in an income and expenditure form and then return to us at which point we'll refer you to Stepchange. So I speed myself up in getting in touch with SC.

CAB systems are shared by the way, as they could see I went to an Essex town one well over 7 years ago when they tried to state an old address which I haven't lived at for 4 years which I do now kind of appreciate means different area's are possibly run differently/have different specialisms/have different access to legal advisors in the first instance.
  • Until recently I was a volunteer advisor at CAB. There was no rule saying you couldn't attend if not from the area. We had people come for advice from other boroughs miles away.
