  • Not to stop you getting a floor length gown if you want to, but depending on the event black tie doesn’t always mean floor length these days - it’s pretty common to see knee length cocktail style dresses. Most of my black tie events are professional / work related, so ymmv, but long dresses are definitely in the minority there. Just in case that widens the options a bit!

    NSD today :)

Had a glut of peppers in the fridge (4 red peppers, not sure how that happened :o), so have chucked together a stew of chicken, chorizo (30p yellow sticker bargain!), peppers and various other veg, and lots of paprika and various other herbs. It's in the slow cooker on low - will let it blip away overnight, and then put it in the fridge while I'm at work, so it will be ready for tomorrow night. Should easily do me 4, if not 5 meals [STRIKE], and maybe squeak a 6th out of it. [/STRIKE]

Only issue is...I'll want to eat it for breakfast instead of my bran flakes :p :rotfl:

ETS: Missed your post astrocytic! Good point! I've not been to this event before, but know others that have been several times, so will canvas some opinions :)

  • Another NSD today :)

Slow cooker stew is barely edible  I think it is the broccoli in it - it's so bitter, even picking those bits out has left a really metallic taste. I'll persevere tomorrow and then will revaluate. I've made this so often before, I can't think what else might have gone wrong. I'll be gutted if I've wasted most of it, but we'll see what tomorrow brings!

Boring update over, I'm off to my bed with PD and a book ;) Focusing on the positives though - NSDs are racking up, and budget is looking good too :D

  • Gutted about the stew - it sounded delicious, and got me wondering if I could make something similar! (Don’t have a slow cooker, and I’m not a natural cook, but I do love anything with chorizo, chicken and peppers)

  • Oh astro you have to try the hairy bikers basque chicken and chorizo pie - it's a staple of mine (it's on the bbc food site). I don't bother with the pastry and just have some mash or extra veggies with it, but it's proper lush! I find it goes really well in the slow cooker normally - I think it was the extra added broccoli that has ruined it :o I've just chucked it, it was even worse today :o:o Toast for tea never harmed anyone ;)

I'm so very glad its Friday - bit of a stressful day at work, but got two big tasks off my back, so ended on a satisfied note. Will need to do a wee bit of research before a meeting early on Monday, but I quite enjoy that, so not really a hardship at all :)

Also got a reminder through from the v.e.t [STRIKE]in case she's reading over my shoulder[/STRIKE] for PD - she's very healthy, but is due an annual check up, and as she's getting older, I do appreciate the peace of mind it brings [STRIKE]even if she hates it[/STRIKE] :D

  • Quick post this morning - CC payment went out today, so new total to shift is sitting at £3,514

Inching towards having paid 2/3s of my total debt :) Exciting to think that if I keep this up, in two months I’ll have a total that starts with a 2! :D

Oh, I see I'm too late to save the stew but I've done similar before with broccoli and managed to revive it to just edible with a little sugar - talking about a teaspoon or so - it just takes the edge off.

And thank you too Joey - I'll remember that tip for next time! (Or just don't eat broccoli - I can get on board with that!) ;)
