Dressing up skirting boards without removing

Looking to make our boring skirting boards a little more modern without removing them and risking damage that will require replastering.
Not being lazy but just tried to remove a small section and looks like its all been hard as nailed on and bolted to the wall too!

Any ideas on maybe 'dressing ' them up a bit or covering with a pre moulded skirt -if such thing exists?

Thanks

There is such a thing as two part skirting. There's a good image of how it works on this website.

Rather than the 'lathe' you see on the drawing, you'd use yours. But the property really dictates the height of skirting that is appropriate and the cost of it is high.

I think you're better off being brave with the skirting and being a bit more serious in your methods to remove it. If you replace with a slightly higher skirting than the existing, then it will hopefully disguise most, if not all, of the damage to the plaster.

Be careful where you purchase skirting board - Had a rummage through some packs at B&Q recently, and rejected 90% of it due to warping. Most of it was only fit for firewood !

You can get skirting covers - which are installed over your existing skirting

I have never used the product nor had any dealing with the company so can't say if either are any good.
