NHS employment changes - NHS to Agency

My wife has just come back home and told me that the new boss at the hospital wants to move all Domestic staff over from permanent NHS employees to an agency.
This is quite a shock especially as the staff have only just been moved across to new contracts within the NHS. It seems that each new boss the hospital gets wants to make his name by introducing a change which does not seem to have been thought through and is just a money saving move.
I would like to know if there are any other NHS Domestic staff on this forum who have recently encountered the same issue.
Even though my wife is a member of UNISON, they do not seem to be that aware or organised with how to best fight this ridiculous management decision.
Cheers all

How was she moved over to the NHS?
Never, always a permanent employee
How long was she employed by the agency?
Never, new boss wants to TUPE people over to an agency.0 -
The member should contact the branch office for support, if it's not forthcoming contact the regional office for this to be picked up.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0

If your local union reps are not forthcoming, go straight to your regional office. (I've done this before in the NHS and the regional office was really helpful - they've got far more experience and training than local reps.)
Also, surely the decision to outsource domestic services would have to go out to tender? A manager can't simply decide to hand the service over to an agency.0 -
Is your home insurer onboard with the arrangement.
Are risk assessments to be conducted, it's now a workplace?Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -

Further to my post #6, I'm surprised that any NHS trust still has an in-house domestic services - most of them were put out to tender and outsourced 20 or more years ago.
Are you sure your wife is still a NHS employee?0 -

Yep, she gets a payslip from the local NHS Trust. No agency markings what so ever.0 -

Thanks for this info. I will pass it across to her to make contact with regional rep.0
