Replace Towel radiator with a new one

Hi all - Local plumber has quoted me £225+VAT to replace my existing towel radiator with a new one.
They will not be like-for-like, new one is slightly wider and taller, so will need new wall holes drilling and pipework modification or new.
I am supplying the radiator, valves and a length of pipe, plumber is carrying out the replacement, consisting of:
1. Drain system
2. Remove old and alter pipework.
3. Refit new radiator
4. Refill system adding inhibitor.
5. Test & bleed all radiators.
Does this look reasonable?

I'd say its expensive, that's a day rate plus some parts charge for half a days work. I'd feel a bit harsh asking for anything over £100 to do it.0

Depends where you are based but sounds abit expensive especially if pipes are external and no tiles or plaster is being removed or repaired
I would get a few more quotes from local trusted tradesmen
At most 2-3 job around £100-£180 job0 -
Prob top heavy, esp plus vat.
Prob a £150 job.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
Get one the same size and replace yourself. You don't need to drain the system if you can close off the feed to the rad.
I'm rubbish at DIY but managed it.0 -
Just as a reference point for others who advised (thank you by the way), I called three other plumbers who all quoted me in the region of £80-£100 for replacing the radiator with my own hardware.
In the end I found another plumber on-line, with good reviews on yell etc and he swapped it over for £85 all in yesterday, much much cheaper than the other one! I guess the other one charges a day-rate regardless...Mortgage Free Wannabe Light Bulb Moment (Early 2012, started May 2012)

It did seem a bit odd you were supplying the pipe, did you offer that ?Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0

I supplied the radiator and valves, plumber supplied the extra pipe needed to plumb it in. (Wasn't much to be fair, a lot of the old was re-used).Mortgage Free Wannabe Light Bulb Moment (Early 2012, started May 2012)
