I have buckled and ordered an air conditioner. It's 29 degrees in my lounge.

Hope it works OK - it aso doubles as a dehumidifier and fan heater so three things in one.

It's like I have had a shower and then an hour later I feel like I need another.

Serious question, do people on average really like hot weather, or is it just a tradition that we are supposed to, and don't wish to be seen to be different?

There's nothing more infuriating than the weatherman smiling and saying wonderful news more hot weather. Why not say, I'm afraid it's bad news because:
    • you will become hot sweaty and exhausted
    • you will be ill because of grass pollen
    • you won't get to sleep due to the windows being open and all the noise, light and heat
    • you will get increased chance of skin cancer from UV
    • you will get more mosquitoes and wasps buzzing around
    • the air quality will be appalling due to all the smoke from fires and dust emissions from traffic

Perhaps if we marketed weather differently, and the weather became normal again (cloudy and cooler) we could become a holiday resort for Mediterranean people wishing to avoid these things. Imagine, having to live with this every day in the Summer! That said, when I went to the SW states of the US at this time of year, most of this was irrelevant, because everywhere was air conditioned.

I like hot weather. More importantly, my wife also likes hot weather.

So I had my air con machine delivered. Bedroom was 26.8 C about 30 minutes ago. It is now at 21.9 and dropping.

Why did I not get one of these sooner?

I think this may have been the hottest day so far in mid Wales. The thermometer in the car was reading 30 degrees.

Still very warm. Sitting upside with chicken and baked potatoes on the BBQ.

Cloud came over while it was still daylight today, it never really got much cooler but it felt less burning (if that makes sense)
