    The whimsical tale of the Waterbed of Debt 3rd May 18 at 8:25 PM
    Ooooh so close....so very close.

    So I've decided it is time to move on to the next chapter.

    The whimsical tale of the waterbed of debt is a metaphor for my debts. In a few days time (when I'm back from Milan - how appropriate!) I shall start detailing how my debts have gone down a little and my mortgage is doing quite nicely but how pushing down too enthusiastically can result in other bits popping up.

    This is the story of how difficult I find it to cut down on all areas and not to suffer rebound in other areas. Keep having acid reflux in yoga too!

    It will also have a bit of psychobabble.

    .....and a bit of whimsy.

    BUT FIRST ironing in preparation for Milan. A trip which has free travel and free accommodation . I just need to remember not to strangle my friend after four days if she is catastrophising too much or generating too many black and white arguments.

    And so ....to the ironing

    Two jobs nearby. Haven't had time to check out the company yet. Going to talk to ex-boss on Monday and do some research on Sunday. The good thing is it is CVs so its an opportunity to update mine and then put it on LinkedIn. It's a win win.

    Went (very tentitively) to a boxing class last night. Was slightly worried about depleting my T4 thyroid hormone and not being able to make it out of bed for a day.

    Turns out it was fine. Helps that the class is run by my yoga teacher who knows all about my medical history. Worked around the pain in my knee (limited squats for me) and woke up this morning with no pain in my knee

    So may move on to more exercise.

    Pay day in our company is moving. So would normally have been paid on Monday, being paid next Thursday. May be a painful month! My tax returns from 2017-18 have also been held until the end of this tax year so not had them yet. Think I will fill the form in within the next week. I NEED THE MONEY.

    Speaking of money;

    Barclaycard £3661
    Santander £810

    TOTAL £4471

    Speaking of which. Went to the cinema last night (The Keeper - very very good film. True story too!) and met up with friends afterwards who were out for a meal. About 5 minutes after arriving I had the joy of sitting opposite toxic friend and started to think "Why me? Why am I sitting here?" I can't decide at the moment whether toxic friend is toxic or just a black hole into which all morals and norms of society are sucked and obliterated.

    She'd been to another friends house. This friend has a new kitchen which she has not skimped on. Toxic friend was telling her what she had put in the wrong place and where she would have put it. Helpful, I'm sure you'd agree. Easily "remedied" with a chainsaw and a bit of glue if you are stupid enough to listen!!!

    But the real belter was a conversation we had away from the table. It turns out one of my friends has been on a couple of dates with a new guy who has joined the group. Toxic friend said to her "Well you've only been on a couple of dates with him, so it'd be okay for me to crack on!"

    .....this is a large part of the reason they have not seen much of me for the past month.....well that and too many holidays to pay for

    So I am continuing on the journey of treating my remaining thyroid with kid gloves. It seems to be yielding some results in how much like a hamster I now don't look!

    Doing several things;
    • A prebiotic each day to help digestion
    • A multi-vitamin tablet and fish oil
    • About a 1/4tsp of turmeric with black pepper on one meal
    • A non-flouride toothpaste
    • Boxing class, yoga or cycling most days
    • Practicing mindfulness

    The turmeric is supposed to reduce inflamation. It appears to have massively reduced the pain in my knee and my ability to get up and down stairs. It is not any special tablet. Mine is from the herbs and spices in Mr S. I try to keep coffee away from when I take vitamins as it allegedly inhibits absorbtion.

    I am taking care to not get stressed about work. I think the idea of any massive promotion is out of the window. I still intend to move company to one in an office if an opportunity presents itself.

    Flouride is supposed to inhibit the function of your thyroid.

    I'm loving the boxing (strange that isn't it! ) It's taught by my yoga teacher!

    The plod down of the Credit cards continues;

    Barclaycard £3561
    Santander £660

    TOTAL £4221

    Mortgage is down to £58,609

    Very MSE today. Back has stiffened up terribly, it hurts when I breathe! So I've done a half hour downloaded yoga podcast on loosening up the hips. Seems to have helped.

    ....and while I was down there I spotted the state of the floor and all the crap under the sofa so will clear that now
