IPA and moving in with partner

Good morning,

So I have been discharged from bankruptcy 2018 November.
IPA has been set up for 3y.
Amount is variable as sometimes I do less hours than usual etc, my OR is absolutely brilliant and very helpful.
I’m single with one teenage daughter but in nearest future planning to move in with partner.
I know my bankruptcy shouldn’t affect him but my question is ,I must to inform my OR about partner personal details ?income?we have agreed to pay 50/50 rent ,bills, household expenses, but he earns much more than me so will OR ask him
to pay more than 50% and this will make me pay more on IPA pls?

No - you don't have to give your partners details. If the OR asks for a new SOA then give them one based on your 50%. The OR may well try and encourage you to give details but you are not obliged to do so.
  • Thank u so much.
just want to be ready if OR will push me for details, how I should explain my partner does not have to provide it?
  • I’m trying to sort out new SOA as I do know OR will ask it ,so want to be ready.
I will put other person income same as mine if that’s correct?
    So income per month

    £1340
    £1340
    £82 ( child benefit)

    2 adult
    1 teenage

    Expenses per month:

    Rent £800
    Electricity £40
    Gas £40-45
    Mobile phones x3 £60
    Council tax £112

    Car insurance £90
    Petrol £170
Groceries £550 ( I have been allowed £340 to me and my daughter so try figure out how much when another adult will be added ?)
Daughters school expenses £146.64 included school meal ( now she will start college so not sure?
Contact lenses + glasses £26( it has been approved when IPA has been set up)
personal costs have been allowed £109 so I put now £163

emergency funds have been allowed £20 per person so there will be £60

Have you accounted for losing your single person discount with the council tax?

What kind of car payment is it? Lease, HP, bank loan? Because there is normally a section on the SOA for loan payments and I would stick it in that bit as it's not your payment, but does have a knock-on effect with outgoings :)

You have child care / nursery but that should probably be under other child expenses.

    Thank u.
I wasnt sure about child expenses as I have teenage daughter, so counted this + partner pays child maitenance.it is all right? there are no child care/nursery.
car is on oodle car finance.
Are partner expenses will be in account pls? In my mind it should be, we put income together and expenses as well. Thats correct?:)
everything else looks ok for you?
I just counted approx, compared with allowances that have been allowed to 2 of us (my and my daughter)
I will not get tax credit anymore once I will move together

Whatever works best for you when it comes to your conflab with the OR :)

Depending on how the hot water is heated you will need to account for your partner having a bath/shower so that respective utility bill will increase by a pound or two a week.

Is you water on a normal bill or meter? If meter then that will increase.

Your mobile bill has gone down from your other SOA, did you mean for that to happen or have you checked your bills and put the correct figure in now?

If either of you have regular prescriptions look at a pre-paid certificate as that saves a few quid a year.

So you have an account to pay your emergency fund, holiday money, dentist etc into so it's clear for you to see not to touch it? (Not sure how ORs are with a pot of cash built up, but you or another member hopefully know)

Have you got everything written down for when you speak with them and go through your figures?

Lastly, if you have a note of the figured you previously advised the OR check what you put about the TV licence as only one is required per property and as you are in a home share only one of you needs to pay it and split the cost with the other. -- this is for your benefit and to think about.

Other members will be along to advise how the couple's accounting works.

Hope your partner moving in goes smoothly and you get a little something to eat / drink to celebrate the event :)
