If you've a stash of Nectar points, you may want to hold off spending them – as from tomorrow you can double your points, to then spend in store at Sainsbury's in a couple of weeks...

Just gone to the nectar website, it says you can only order vouchers once. So seems like I will have to make two trips to Sainsburys - first to identify what they have in my local store that I want and can buy with vouchers, then return home, order vouchers, hope that Sainsburys don't sell out of the items I want whilst I'm waiting for vouchers, then another trip to spend the vouchers. So complicated and unnecessary.

As you can only order vouchers once, I can't see how we can split our points into multiple vouchers. For example a £60 and £40 to spend at different times.

Another blinking app? Oh for pity's sake, Sainburys!

All far too hard on those with mobility issues, those who can't come & go easily to check what is & isn't included and those who are not fans of the pesky little handheld computer-ma-bobs...

    Hullo Lidl & Aldi...

I have just ordered the maximum award of 10,000 points which should give me a £100 voucher. Yet this morning I had 24,175 points available now I only have 4,175 so where have the other 10.000 gone? I have emailed Nectar but would recommend you take before and after screenshots!

From past experience, do items in the various categories have special half price offers on them before and after the voucher validity period? That is, do prices effectively go up to compensate for the Nectar exchange rate improvement?

I looked at the app today and it seems you can shop at other places than Sainsburys. One was my favourite Benefit beauty products and they're never half price so on the face of it, it seems good. But is it?

It seems unnecessarily convoluted to me. I'll ask for help /clarification when I'm next in store. What won't help is that the Customer Service has shrunk to a tiny desk.

I've only read the instructions or terms about 5 or 6 times so far, on Nectar, Sainsburys, a couple of newspaper websites and MSE, so I haven't yet figured out whether a separate voucher is needed for each category, or one voucher can cover the lot.

Maybe it's so obvious to everyone except me and I'm just reading it badly, or maybe some reports haven't discovered this themselves and just glid over that part without specifying.

Has anyone here got it better than I have?

    misleading nectar info
I just spoke to nectar and they said points can be swapped in the shop? i said that conflicted with info what was on the website. so I got in touch with sainsburys and they said that its wrong, double up is only available online or the app...I can only order the vouchers online and have them posted, (I wont be able to use the app on the days the double up is available) and I can only use them on the last day, the only day i can get there, and if they are out of stock of the items i want, they confirmed the money/points will be lost. what a farce!!

I wonder if you could buy something in TU in the wrong size and then exchange it at a later date for the same value?

It sounds potentially that it's a good way to cut loads of points off peoples' balances and save themselves some money.

Have two friends that work for Sainsburys and wish the double up is for all wines. As they get at least three customers per double up redemption period picking up any wine. Then waste time explaining to customers that is only for Taste the Difference wines.

Has anybody else noticed that they have changed the rules this year.ie
"Only £100 worth of Nectar Double Up vouchers will be issued per Nectar card/account during the promotional period."
Previously there was no limit on how much you of your nectar points you could use.
There was a limit of £100 voucher per item.
Now the overall limit is £100!
I have 33,000 points which would have been worth £333 in the double up. Now it will be worth £100 + £115 ... so I'm losing £118.
No wonder they can splash out on their and campaign ... cos'they're going to save millions.
    B@stards!

They haven't thought this through. The Sainsburys near me is small and mainly used by elderly and don't have internet at home or a smartphone (or a mobile phone). Before you ask, my dad is a volunteer for a history group and prints off extra for the members - at least half of the members don't have internet. Most shop at the Sainsburys as there are two larger supermarkets nearby and too big for them. A local business is now doing the photoopying for the history group..

Asking staff to phone Nectar to do a turnaround with their points is going to take too much time. Whereas printing off a voucher took less than a minute.

Also these customers are going to miss out on impulse double up opportunities such as they are going in to their weekly shop and find an item of clothing they want. Or 'semi' impulse such as those that need to buy a replacement toaster as theirs has broken,

Unless Sainsburys has a change of heart, they are going to see the double up conversions decrease, add unnecessary stress to customer service staff and upset customers. Sainsburys - bring back the ability for stores to print double up coupons please.

Sainsburys cannot force elderly and technophobe customers into embracing new technology like this

Yesterday I redeemed 3000 points online to get a £30 voucher. Nectar in their wisdom decided to do its own double-up and took off 6000 points from my account! I phoned them up and they said it will take up to 28 days to get my points refunded. What a shambles!

I spoke to Customer Services at Sainsburys today. I felt a bit sorry for the staff as they don't seem to have much training in the system.

It's a bit clearer now. Apologies to those of you who understood all along.

You can get vouchers either from the website or later in the month from the app. The website vouchers will be posted out but the ones from the app are electronic. Both can be used later in November (sorry don't have dates to hand).

When booking vouchers you need to choose a category that you plan to spend it on. The vouchers are interchangeable so if what you originally planned isn't available then you can use them in another category. The categories aren't the usual places you can use points on the website /app but specific ones that don't appear on the app yet.

I still think it's wrong that they've made it so difficult for anyone who doesn't want to use website or app and taken away the facility from processing in store. And it really does not need to be so complicated.
