There is a Better Cleaner Than Stardrops

Today I decided to clean out my husband's lunch bag as it was filthy and the plastic was stained with tea and food. I got out the Stardrops and washed it but the plastic remained yellow and stained. I had never compared Stardrops with my other favourite cleaner before butI only wanted to use a J cloth as the plastic is in a delicate condition. I got out the Barkeepers Friend and the cloth swiped through the stains and brought out the white plastic underneath.

I dont know if any of you already use this but it is marvellous stuff. You can buy it in the cleaning section of all supermarkets at £1.95 and it lasts for ages. It is particularly good for ovens and hobs etc but can be used for all manner of cleaning jobs. Hope this helps someone.

Incidentally although it is effective it is quite gentle but there are some things listed on the container that you cant use it on.

Do not use Bar Keepers Friend to clean marble, acrylic, pewter, or colorized aluminum. Do not use Bar Keepers Friend on human beings or animals.:rotfl:

Googled and found this! Made me laugh anyway!!
  • I've made it into a paste and cleaned the copper on my fireplace with it, made an excellent job.

  • I've got to be honest since reading about stardrops on this board last year i haven't used anything else, it cleans my bathroom, kitchen, plastic surfaces, floors and anything else that's dirty. At the moment it's my best os purchase to date :D

My mum always used this, and her stainless steel sink still looked like new when it was 10 years old;)

It is one of those *old fashioned* products that works just like it says it will:D

Tell me, where may I find this liquid gold lol!

I have tesco/morrisons/sainsbury's nearby or is it more of a specialist shop thing?

Its more like gold dust than liquid gold and you will find it in just about every supermarket. Its usually on the top shelf where the cleaning products are and its a conical shaped white container with a blue lid.

I've wondered if this would move the metal marks off my porcelain sink. Is it suitable for porcelain?
There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.

I have bought some today. Will try it tomorrow.

I found it next to the Brasso and just above the bottom shelf in ASDA.
