This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning silvery one and all who will be here later.

    Still dark and raining,

Slept a bit better but am full of sniffles. It will pass, but right now my nose is hurting.

No plans today, house us clean but won't ever be tidy.

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.

Good morning and thanks for starting SO.

I don't know what the weather is like, I'm sure it will be a lovely surprise.

Had a quiet day yesterday - my niece stayed over on Friday night and the family came over for tea to catch up with her, it was great to see her, haven't seen her since last year.

After she'd left for home at about 1pm we just sat about really, did a bit of tidying and that was all. We're going to B&Q this morning for some sample pots of paint, and a look round.

Not expecting anything else to happen today, I'll put some steak and kidney in the slow cooker to make a pie for tea, and that'll be it.

Hope Steve is improving a bit Snoozer.

Lainey, hope you enjoyed Dancing on Ice

    Take care folks

    Good morning all

Gers home your home is ok

Thinking of taff, Poppy, Holly, Snoozer and Steve

TA hope the sale of next door goes ahead and you have lovely neighbours

Visited mother yesterday, no response from her at all. She didn't talk, didn't want cake, not sure what to make of it. Think maybe she is just 'worn out', they say three score years and 10, she is well past that.

    Lazy day today.

    Take care all

Morning folks and thanks for the start off SILVER=OLDIE. Sorry it was a poor visit to see your DM.

LAINEY hope you enjoyed the Strictly Tour. We went 3 years ago at the First Direct in Leeds, when DD bought us tickets for Xmas.We thoroughly enjoyed it.

After yesterday's battering wind all sounds peaceful out there. I will venture round the back in a bit to stand the bird table and pots back upright.

I have another small gammon joint out ready to cook for my lunch. I am fancying some cauliflower cheese to go with it, as well as the other usual suspects. I also want to make a pan of celery soup as stocks of that are running low. I may need to do a freezer tidy before I can get the little tubs in there though.

Other than that there is still the pile of bedding from the DGDs' beds to iron so that may (or may not) get done at some point.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Hope TAFF, STEVE and POPPY are having a better day. And I'm sure HOLLY will be enjoying her time with her DB. WEE-MIDGIE has been missing for a few days I hope all is ok with her. Take care all xx

    Morning everyone

Silver-oldie - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH and myself are enjoying first peaceful cuppas and brekkie, both boys still in their pits, all's still quiet from upstairs.

Now light, wet underfoot and laying water as it's been raining since sometime during the night and is still raining steadily, the wind has died away though.

Dinner last night was hot quiche, hot bbq chicken drumsticks, pizza, side salad, boiled egg, skinny chips and coleslaw - really enjoyed by us all. Lunch today will be the expensive half leg of lamb, and it'd better be good! I'll do all the normal roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, swede, peas, Yorkshires and gravy with it, hoping there may be some left to do another meal but depends how much the menfolk eat and how much the joint shrinks whilst cooking, we'll see.

Yesterday we were chilled all afternoon, watched the rugby and some catchup tv. We will be visiting the parents this morning as my bro is visiting. We'll be watching the rugby this afternoon too.

We have already sorted work clothes - so we're all ready to go back tomorrow.

    Keep safe and well x

-taff, I hope you get sorted out quickly.

SO, I'm sorry your mum was even less forthcoming than usual.

Steve was kept in last night on more IV antibiotics. We saw a really good Dr though who was very impressed with Steve's spreadsheet showing all his medications, symptoms and daily temps. When she saw it she agreed that the oral anti-b's were doing nothing and that he has some sort of infection they can't find. I just hope they keep him on the IV's long enough to really kill it off this time instead of just suppressing it. She said that the consultant on call today was Steve's specialist so hopefully he will see him.

Of course that has put all the plans for today into disarray. All the children and Steve's sister were going to come over for a birthday meal this evening. If he's kept in we shall all go to the hospital instead. They have generous visiting, from 11 till 8 so I shall go in for the start in hopes of being there when the consultant arrives.

    Morning All

Hope Steve is sorted quickly Snoozer and you can all enjoy your cake.
Sounds like you will have lovely neighbours TA.

Lovely catch up with Gers yesterday, timing was just right as I was shopping and our meeting place is on my way home!

Took DDs car to be washed and I hoovered out the inside then swapped them back over last night, her DP was at the football so we had a good time chatting and watching the rugby, shame Scotland lost!

I found DDs mac in the boot of her car so that's had a wash (label says dry clean only) and an iron, looks good as new.

Plans for today are for a walk, the weather looks to be calm and dry, I may have to clean the windows after the storm, I can hardly see out of the kitchen window.

Have a happy and peaceful Sunday, take care. XX

    Good morning chicks :)

My favourite day of the week and even better for no work travel. :j
Looking a bit grim out there dark and drizzly but it can do its worse.

Busy day yesterday and still some stuff to do today including the charity bag but will ramp down into sloth mode it being Sunday

TA made the soup and its lovely ...I confess to a change as I dont like tinned tomatoes but I now have a big pot of really tasty soup for the week.

Had the moroccan chicken last which was good but a bit dry on warm up ....occupational hazard of freezer eating sadly. Today I fancy something simple like sausage mash gravy and beans or even egg and chips :) Lunch will be soup.

My second favourite bloke Simon Rimmer on the to do list for later and Dancing on Ice later so thinking any jobs may need to fit in the time of an ad break :)

SO How awful for you i thought cake was the answer :( I will start up the chara now what with door gate for me and the silent treatment for you and no doubt something with nanny's dad its time for a long trip :) Theres plenty of room if anyone wants to suggest an extended holiday to their parents :D

Hope you all have a lovely Sunday

    Morning all.

It's calm again outside, there's pieces of blue sky in between the clouds and they are bavk to being fluffy and white again. There's still small bouts of rain though the storm has drifted away.

The snowdrops are disappearing again, such a shame as they cheer up the verges outside. Still, spring is coming, the long way round!

Last night I went to bed fairly early (love my own bed) to watch TV. I record The Voice and then skip through all the dross bits and adverts. I started to watch Spectre but gave up, mostly because it's so blooming long and also because I've seen it umpteen times.

This morning I listened to yesterday's 'Saturday Live' which had Patrick Grant on, he from the Sewing Bee. He was very interesting, I was surprised to learn that he's Edinburgh born and bred. Theres not even a hint of an accent these days.

Snoozer - I'm glad that Steve is getting some more intensive treatment, love the sound of his spreadsheet too!

Taff - that sounds both painful and weird, hope you get sorted soon.

My plans for today include going out into the unexpected sunshine whilst being warmly wrapped up. I want to explore the little bluebell wood just up the road as all the horrible rhododendrons are being removed, such nasty though beautiful plants. There's also the final pieces of paperwork to finish off. :o

I've got an M&S chicken stir fry to eat. DM bought it on Friday and then decided she didn't want it on Saturday. It's not really my 'thing' but I can't waste it. :rotfl:

I hope everyone has a peaceful, restful and happy Sunday.

    Morning everyone,

Just having a quick catch up before the Archers start.

We did enjoy the Strictly tour although our seats were way up in the gods, only four rows from the back. The O2 is extremely steep and have to admit to feeling a tad uneasy in my seat at times and we obviously had to watch everything on the big screens as the dancers themselves were tiny dots. That said it was very entertaining and I was especially impressed with Shirley the head judge, you can see why she was a champion for so long, amazing dancer.

Will have a quiet day today as yesterday was tiring and long, need to pop over to see my girlie at some point but will wait until later when hopefully it will stop raining.

Have a good day folks x
