TUPE - Agree to transfer?

I'm currently "in scope" with a transfer date of 30/6.
The new employer has asked me today to confirm by 6pm tomorrow that I agree to the transfer.
Am I correct in saying they have no right to ask me that and that I only need to inform them if I object - which can be done anytime between now and the 29/6?

Anyway, normally I don't like people creating multiple threads but I ummed and arred about whether this was related to the "mobility clause" question and decided go for it. I was unanimous in agreeing to my decision.0 -
I didn't realise you were a moderator!

Unfortunately, to date everyone else seems unanimous in their decision to ignore you.
You therefore may have better luck in sticking to your original threat, plus it gives context, so any replies you do get may be more relevant.0 -
Thanks for the replies from the thread police.0

You should stick to your other thread, it had more information.
Taking this post at face value, what is your beef?
What is the difference between consenting to the transfer and having it done without you saying anything further (unless you object)?
I don't know much about the TUPE process, but not understanding why you aren't simply confirming "yes" or "no" by 6pm today...?
Maybe speak to ACAS given you are time-bound and you are starting new threads which require posters to dig around to find out what is going on.0 -
Phone ACAS Helpline.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

It doesn't really reply any digging.
Simply, all I'm asking is:-
Yes - I am obliged to agree or decline by this evening
No - I have no obligation to confirm by this evening0 -

You'll find out by Monday then.Originally Posted by shortcrust
