Yes, we both work long hours. And if I really pester him, he'd do it more often. But, to be quite honest, I don't wanna have to pester him all the time.

We both have our strengths and weaknesses. He really doesn't enjoy cooking, whereas I do (I just don't enjoy *having* to do it all the time). But he's a whizz with computers, anything electrical and seems to enjoy the hoovering (why?!). So he does that stuff. He fixed our internet connection last night. The plug on our modem broke (something had burnt inside it!), and he then went on a mission sourcing an old modem we still had, and some yellow wire thingy (yes, that is the technical term ;)) and connecting it all up and getting us back online! If it had been left to me, I would've shrugged my shoulders, said 'oh well' and waited til payday before ordering a new modem! :rotfl: It doesn't matter as much to me, as it does to him. With cooking, that is reversed.

Well i have just had a £34.80 spend in asda :(
I have a house viewing on friday and another on saturday so i needed some fresh flowers and asdas last so much longer than the other stores. I also had to get fruit and airfreshners.
But that should be it for the rest of the week.
I am just off to update my sig.

I am very blessed in that respect! And he really loves tinkering and fixing things (the washing machine more than once, the bed and the sofa etc). Judging by the smile on his face, he also loves the attention and praise he receives after fixing something (gotta make sure he feels appreciated!).

I'm more inclined to be the one accidentally breaking things! :o

jumblejack - the last gammon joints we bought were from tesc0 and they were on offer two for £10. i think they were over a kilo each 1.2 or 1.3 something like that. i cook it in the slow cooker and use the stock for soup. if i am doing a lentil soup i put some of the scraps from carving the joint in the soup. i know we had two main meals out of the last one one was a roast the other a salad and that was for three adults and one child. we had some on sandwhiches and the rest i chopped up and added to the two cheese and onion pies i made earlier. i think it does depend on how much your family eats. i'm going to invest in meat slicer next month.
florenceem - thanks, i have two lots of two in the fridge and the remains packed in the freezer for the next couple of weeks. he can have them with some salad and rice, not bad for a lorry driver.

  • Hope everyone had a nice easter. I have had a few spends in Tesco, Waitrose and Asda. I have not included alcohol in this budget, or eating out, both of which we have done a lot of, as we had house guests and i did not want to be counting the pennies too much, so my spends so far without that are quite low, though in reality a lot higher. Am hoping to add anything left over into a second purse system. Going to try and eat out of my freezer and cupboards mostly, and just buy the odd salad bits.

My tea (and one for Dad!):

    photo-49.jpg?t=1334153239

2 cheese n onion pies made with a cheesy bacon sauce, mmmmm.
It should do my Dad 2 days so will do something else for him on Friday to take down.

Enjoy your tea too, abitofhelp. I hope to make mine one day with leftover gammon joint. Yum!
