Hi Everyone!!
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!!! We did. Recieved the book MSE Thrifty ways from Modern Days as a presssie which is made up of the invaluable advice from this Old Stylers forum.
Also M and S vouchers, lots of posh coffee and cheese. Not sure about how Camembert tastes however. Is that a soft cheese like Brie?
I wondered if any of you had some economical recipes for using up Turkey or Ham? OB has mentioned pies and I believe someone said about adding condensed mushroom soup to make a mixture???
Any ideas gratefully appreciated.
I have got a few from the recipe list.
Thanks SFT

Congratulations on the 'frugalmite' news, searching-me!
Rosieben, many thanks for your links lists to all those recipes. I hope you don't mind if I update the links on post 1 of my 4k per year challenge so they now point here.
My lettuce seedlings seem to have survived another freezing, icy blast in their plastic tub and I have now lined up a selection of herbs, tomatoes and peppers to start planting in the new year.
Hope everyone is having a frugalicious, festive food time, making lots of use of the leftovers and are all set for the new year. I cannot believe that I have been doing the grocery challenge on here for a year! Can that really be true? I've been on grocery watch for a few years now, but 2008 has been extra great with all the new recipes and tips I have learned, even although I don't always comment on them. Sorry about that, I don't mean to overlook important announcements, I just never seem to get the time to keep up in here. Anyway, hope you all have a great week and a great New Year when it comes, just in case I don't get back here. Thank you for all the help and support throughout 2008. :T I shouldn't be back anywhere near a shop until 2009 - sun shining, veggie garden preparations calling.
Savingfortravel - you can use condensed chicken soup or mushroom soup but it's just as easy (and probably cheaper) to mix up some cornflour to thicken the stock and use that in the pie Saves using/buying a tin of condensed soupI reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

I'm a bit ashamed of my £400 budget for january!! Especially when I know i used to be able to do it for £250 and sometimes even less!!
Hmmmm - need to get back into the swing of things i think!!
Any help much appreciated x#118 DFW Debt freely Christmas 2012 Challenge0 -
Hi everyone,
I completely lost track of my spending in the week before Christmas and lost a few of the receipts as well. Unfortunately what I do know is that I went way over my budget. All those last minute "popping to the shops" for things I forgot add up. I probably came in at about £400  in December. December probably wasn't the best month to join. So I am going to try again in January with the same amount. Mrs M, can you put me down for £300 for January please? I still think this is feasible. No birthdays, Christmas or any of those kind of things to stop me from achieving it.:cheesy::cheesy: Cheese… milk's leap toward immortality :cheesy: :cheesy:Clifton FadimanFeb'11 - GC: £105.89/£125 - NSD: 15:jMar'11 GC: £3.84/£100 - NSD: 00
