Kaat_Lady - Ann, so sorry to hear about Archie, my girls say they are thinking of you too, they are 12 and 10 and real pet lovers - we have had 3 cats in the last 20 years and sadly no longer with us so we know how you must be feeling now.:grouphug:

*BigBird* - I too have made an apple & blackberry crumble for tonights pud, over run with them in the garden - I just fill my dish with a mixture of the fruit, don't bother to weigh it out just use what I need and leave enough room for the crumble mix. HTH.

Pink princess - sorry to hear about DH's Redundancy, hope something turns up soon.

Had an NSD yesterday as we spent the day out visiting friends and had Dinner at their house. Today is also an NSD as we are having Roast chicken which I already had in, potatoes from the garden, carrots and some veg from the freezer. Pudding is the crumble mentioned above.

The remainder of the chicken will be made into a pie tomorrow night so fingers crossed for another NSD tomorrow. Shall then use the carcass to make some soup. My month finishes on the 27th so fingers tightly crossed that we will make it.;)

DD1 is off out with friends tomorrow and DD2 has a friend coming over to keep her amused so I am planning to pick all the Blackcurrants and make some jam - this will be a first with Blackcurrants so wish me luck.;)

Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone.:D

Thanks to Mrs Mc & Gillaman for the toms/chilli tips - I'm very excited about my produce can you tell????:j

We only had a few days away but it felt really *weird* not to have anything to do.....I'm so used to baking/cooking/gardening etc etc that I felt at a bit of a loose end.....it was kind of an MSE holiday as we didn't have to pay for the accomodation courtesy of my kind aunt & uncle letting us use their holiday house, I took a few bits to help with the catering but we did eat out - more than once (!) I took a massive lasagne but left it with DD & friends on their first holiday without adults. I didn't think they really wanted it - especially since it filled their tiny fridge in the caravan. Later that night I got a txt 'everyone says THANKS for the lasagne, it was lovely' Ah at least they didn't eat carp for one day!!

Well rainstorm has passed again, now out in the garden/hang the washing out/luxuriate in the 2 teenage-free days till she gets back :D

    Hi all
Returned from (slightly soggy) Scottish hols yesterday and updated sig. Is going to be tight for the rest of month but should make it OK, done Aldi followed by Mr A today and that should last a bit.

Don't think I have much chance of catching up with all the posts since last Fri but will have a go... in the meantime hugs to anyone who'd like one!

Hi everyone hugs to all xx

CatNap53- Cheshire Oaks is deadly- I have denied myself a trip there all Summer, despite being tempted,:p but have made up for it elsewhere:rolleyes: .

Grocery Challenge is going OK but finances have taken a battering this month with week abroad, clothes shopping and socialising. We might need to buy a second car due to OH's new job being inaccessible by public transport. Also need to completely rip out, possibly replaster and decorate our spare room within the next few weeks as we might be having a friend move in. I'm feeling stressed- although I'm aware that I am worrying about nothing really- just lots to do and lots of changes going on.

Still the Grocery budget is within my control, thank goodness:rotfl: :rotfl: . Spent about £20 this weekend, which includes some crisps and wine to entertain guests but since I'm well within target I'm going to count the full amount as groceries.
2016 MFW OPd £2000, 2015 MFW OPd 3000 then bought new bigger house with bigger mortgage.
    MFW OPd 2014 £2000 2013 £9700 2012 £2848.39 2011 £2509.58 2010 £11000 2009 £112002008 £4939 :D

Is there a site that gives you the best current offers in supermarkets ? - as opposed to filling a trolley and checking the price in asda & tescos etc ?
  • hey folks,

got a good haul from freecycle, courgettes, 2 mahooooosive green ones and 2 yellow, a cucumber, a cos lettuce, 2 onions, 2 garlic bulbs and a bag full of green beans!!!! and i raided my potato pots at my mums and got a lot of lovely new pots, should have plenty now to keep us going til we go of on honeymoon.

spent 72 p earlier on noodles and iceberg lettuce in MrS (as i thought i was only getting courgettes)

Mardatha, i use mysupermarket.com /.co.uk pick a supermarket and it'll compare the prices for you

am of to watch the boys crush newcastle! C'Mon you red devils!!!

  • Goodafternoon everyone it's our wedding anniversary today hubby and me have been spoilt by our kids. We brought ourselves a george foreman, jury is out at the moment wether we are going to use it enough times.
Have updated our challenge, was saying to hubby we might go over budget. But hubby thinks we will be fine. Fingers and everything else crossed.
