The battery cover on an Amazon fireTVstick.

Options
I tried for ages to remove the battery cover on our new stick, with no success. My husband had no better luck. My daughter-in-law tried to explain over the phone, but to no avail.

I decided to try Youtube and found lots of videos, one alone having 10000 views.

One suggested bashing; something I didn't want to do in case of breakage and the next wasn't very clear.

The third video gave the best solution: To hold between palms of hands, with the back towards your preferred hand, grip and push the back upwards; easy (when you know how).

Push rear cover in the direction of the arrow embossed on it, two fingers over "Amazon" on the front, thumb over the arrow on the back and push with thumb.

That didn't work but the flat palm method was very easy even for someone with joint problems.

If you still have it then it might be a good idea to post the link of the YouTube video?

When I have trouble like this, I use a small strip of silicone mat, kept for the purpose. Wrap it loosely round the TV remote or other item and it gives grip as you push up the cover (easier to do than describe). Also useful for removing caps off jars.

The back cover slides about 10cm and then comes off easily - there should be no need to force, bash or prise anything.

With the remote in it's normal orientation, turn over and slide the cover forward with your thumb. It should then literally fall off.
