PPI Claim - Lots of Evidence but apparently not enough

Options
Hello,

Please can you help me. I would very much appreciate it.

I have been trying to make a PPI claim for some time against a very unhelpful bank. The claim is old (June 2002-October 2005). They are saying as this is over 6 years the records may have been destroyed. But I have read I should still be able to make my claim ?

I cannot find documentation or statements of the protection, but I have lots of documentation regarding the property I purchased with the mortgage.
The address of the property
My Final Mortgage Loan Statement - as the property was subsequently sold. This has my sortcode and account number linked to the mortgage itself.
Some Land Registry details
Some documentation regarding the sale of the property.

Would any of this be enough to help me make a successful claim ?

Thank you so much for your time, best wishes,

Aidan

Have you tried claiming through resolver? I’ve always used them for PPI claims where I’ve had no paperwork at all and have still managed to have my details found via their internal systems. I put one through not so long back where I could remember the lender (Blackhorse) but not the date I took it out or how much it was for. Luckily Blackhorse was able to provide some of it and am just awaiting a decision now. I do believe pre 2005 does complicate things slightly though

Resolver doesn't "claim or investigate", it simply sends your email for you and creates an extra link and delay. Much easier to deal with the bank directly. Why involve a third party?

Why would a simple E-Mail template like Resolver induce the Bank to "find" records they've already told the OP they don't have???

Thank you both very much for your help.

I have been in touch with HSBC telling them about the documentation I have and they have basically just been very unhelpful.

    Give up.

All your "evidence" pertains to simply having a mortgage, not having PPI.

If you have no documentation and they have no records evidencing any PPI payments, it's difficult to see how you can progress a complaint.

    RIght.

    that is disappointing.

I kind of thought that as my mortgage was with the same company who provided the PPI the 2 would somehow be easily linked, but obviously not.

2005 is now 14 years ago, the sale was three years earlier..

Putting it simply, under GDPR the bank or financial institution has clear obligations to NOT keep records for longer than is required. All companies will keep mortgage files for at least six years following the date of redemption, with many keeping them for much longer.
They are not being unhelpful....just realistic I am afraid.
I work in Data Protection and spend my days dealing with CMC's. Only here trying to help!!
