Been to T$scos tonight and managed to smack my head on the boot of the car when I was putting the shopping in it. Sitting here now with a bag of frozen peas on my head to make the swelling go down as it's agony. DS13 and DHnot sympathetic at all, and have just taken a picture and put it on facebook . Yes I do look stupid, but it seems to be helping.
Anyway, spent £59.83, but £12.97 was on a dvd, so I'll deduct that from my total.
Off to catch up and update siggy, and must take these peas off before they defrost on my head :rotfl:LBM Dec 10. Total unsecured debt £41176  Nov 12 Debt Free Thanks Mum x RIP x

rachelww1 ouch. Hope the head recovers. Just be sure to label the peas as 'ice pack' I once had the misfortune to try and cook a pack of peas that had been used for that purpose once too often. Not too pleasant!GC Mar 13 £47.36/£1500

Thank you all so much for your good wishes and prayers-they may be working you know!
No sign that the cancer has spread so operation is on the agenda. Two places to operate but it has to be done. They may now operate first and treatment after-unsure. More scans and test but we are getting there!
Spiggle-I do hope that your worries on the lymphs are also unfounded. A pet scan shows them up well!
My thoughts are with you-working keeps you in focus I guess. I went to get my own blood tests today and asked too many questions of the receptionist so she printed it all out for me! So just ask if you want to read up on your blood results any time. Ive had fun typing in all sorts of things-very informative.
Back to the grocery topic I was naughty lunchtime-no idea why I felt like a Mucky D! I had one though-not as good as I remembered of course.
Treated myself to an mp3 player yesterday with video on it as watching music vids is my way of relaxing and Ive worked so much I told myself I deserve it.
I am writing in my spending diary still-I will update sig asap so I keep on top of things. Been doinglittle topup shops really but today I literally just went in co-op for shredded wheat(their own)and that is all I bought.
Gas and electric were less this winter due to new boiler.
Dh built a pillar to support the garden wall today!!!!! I dunno! His way of doing things I guess.
Look after you and yours everyone-spend a little more on healthy choices if you need to(and if you can)moneysaving is great along with a little of the common sense.Been to T$scos tonight and managed to smack my head on the boot of the car when I was putting the shopping in it. angel so glad to hear the news was promising. (((hugs))) and good vibes for the future. Don't worry about the extra spends. Sometimes we need a treat. At least if you are GC'ing for the most then you can allow indulgences like that:AGC Mar 13 £47.36/£1500

I've been through this thread loads of times looking but I just can't find a full explanation (I'm not saying its not here) of this money back at mrT or MrA. I have looked at Te$co website and haven't found anything.
Please could someone explain simply for the slow ones like me, exactly what you have to do?
I can only really help with the Tesco one. Once you have bought your shopping, go to www.tesco.com/pricecheck enter in the details from your receipt (the website will explain where to find them)
They will email you within 36 hours and if Asda is cheaper, they'll send you a voucher for double the difference.

I was just a moment ago washing out the tins for recycling. I used a tin of Milbona evaportated milk the other day(Lidl)and as long as you dont use a can opener on it-just use the peel off bit-you have nice little money slot left in the top to make a savings tin free!
Ive just washed it out and will pop it in the oven to dry it inside-then I will give it to one of my daughters to save! Better than paying £1 for an empty tin!
Last night I made risotto using long grain rice for the fist time.
I used the following:
Haddock and Pea Risotto.
250g long grain rice
100g frozen peas
4 vegetable oxo cubes
800ml water
1 piece of smoked haddock(mine was Icelands frozen)
I brought it to the boil minus the fish-meanwhile put the fish in the micro for about 4 mins with a couple of spoons of water.-doesnt need to be fully cooked.
When rice is soft and has soaked up the water flake off the fish and mix in-cook for a couple of minutes in the pan with any fish juices.
I used a big deep frying pan.
Lowfat cheap and nutricious with simple ingredients.

Just thought I'd share a very simple and scrummy recipe that I made for the 2nd time tonight
Sweet Chilli Bangers
Serves 2
4-6 Sausages
2 Tbs Tomato Sauce (not puree)
1 Tbs Clear Honey
1 Tsp Mild Chilli Powder
1 Tsp Lazy Garlic
½ Tbs Water
Heat oven to 200°C
Arrange sausages in a single layer in an oven proof dish and bake for 10 minutes
(I did them for 20 as I hate anaemic looking sausages)
Meanwhile mix all other ingredients together with some seasoning
(I never added any seasoning as I didn't think it needed any)
Remove sausages from oven and pour over "sauce" mixture
Turn sausages to fully coat
Cook for 15 mins, then remove from oven and turn and cook for a
further 10-15 mins or until golden(ish)/cooked through
I served them with creamy mash, a good portion of slow fried onions and petits pois
Meant to add cheese to mash, but forgot. Very moreish as it was, but will def add cheese next time.Aug11 £193.29/£240

That's interesting Angel
I've often hung my nose over Risotto recipes but have never actually made one as I don't like the way they look like a load of gloop on a plate, and stodgy gloop at that.
I'd toyed with the idea of subbing risotto rice for long grained, but wasn't sure it would work as I wasn't sure long grain would absorb the liquid well enough, but if yours was successful, I may well have a bash at one nowAug11 £193.29/£240
