Bake Off’s back – time to get those MSE aprons on, Forumites!

Hello Forumites!

Here at MSE Towers, we're so excited for the Great British Bake Off to begin again next week! (Mainly because MSE Tine bakes brilliant banana bread, and we're hoping she'll bring some in!) :rotfl:

Each week after the show, we plan to create a Forum thread based on the same themes as that episode, where you can share your tastiest (and MoneySaving, of course) recipes.

We hope you'll join us!

But for now, to get us in the mood, what bakes from the show over the years have inspired you to run to the shops for ingredients? MSE Laura B shared a blog last year about how she made a batch of brownies for £4 that tasted better than her usual £8 version, according to the office! You can read more here.
*Prices correct as of September 2018.

We'd love to know how you made a MoneySaving showstopper!

I heard that an absolute record number of people applied for this year's show as the makers were guaranteeing they'd have eggs and butter post Brexit.

I've never bothered watching it. It's not my sort of thing.
I've lived in my house over 5 years, never once turned the oven on, not even to check it works.

Do you have something to use instead? like a microwave or halogen thingy?

Last week I tried to use my oven, but i think it was last used at Christmas, so I had completely forgotten how to switch the wretched thing on. :D

    Microwave, slow cooker, mini oven/toaster.
I even cook my Xmas dinner with those.

    LOL/forgot :)

I'm moving, if I get the kitchen size/space/layout I want I will look into an air fryer.
