  • If you’re using CheckMyFile and paying for it I’d suggest cancelling it and getting your free reports elsewhere

    So i try to sign up with all kind of a failure

    MSE = cant verify me (even though checkmyfile can)
    Totalmoney = offline
    GiffGaff = offline
    Credit Karma = no report
    Credit Wise= offline
    clearscore= ask for ID and Selfie

    CheckMyFile is using the data available from the CRAs so it sounds like your data is able to be linked to you and there shouldn't be an issue with getting access to it. It's completely up to you if you want to spend your own money but £15/month will add up over time and you can get the EXACT same information for no cost at all by going direct, or using some of the free services outlined above.

    Request your statutory credit reports directly from the three CRAs - they are obliged by law to provide you with this information. If your files are quite thin (which it sounds like might be the case) then you may have to jump through some hoops to identify yourself, but from my experience once you provide them enough information to identify yourself there is usually no problem.

    Not sure I understand what "offline" means.

    If ClearScore require ID then provide it?

    offline means the website says: service offline please try later.

    and for clearscore i supplied that and just got this reply:

    Hi Patrick,

    Thanks for getting in touch. I’m sorry you’ve had issues signing up with us.

    Unfortunately, we're unable to provide you with a credit report.

    You might be interested to know that you're entitled to get a £2 statutory credit report from any of the credit reference agencies: https://www.equifax.co.uk/Products/credit/statutory-report.html

    We appreciate your interest in ClearScore and apologise for any inconvenience.

    Many thanks,
    Lauren
