Sorry - did not make it clear, this is for June 2019 but having been on these planes before it looks to be the same as the extra legroom seats on the front row but without people trying to cut across in front of you
TV screens look bigger and food is "meant" to be better but that's subjective, there is only so much you can do with a heated up meal.
Coming home it was only slightly more that upgrading to the extra legroom seats which I really need at 6'4'' and with the extra suitcase weight it was a no brainer.

Cheers. I always like the option of a "free" bar when I go to Vegas to be honest so that appealed.
As for food I can live without it. Never a fan, will just hit one of the buffets for lunch when I get there!

We too fly out of Manchester and after doing many indirect flights to Vegas we only do direct ones now generally with Thomas Cook. After being abandoned in Philidelphia with US Airlines and being delayed by snow in Chicago with AA it just isn't for me.We have had some good change overs in Atlanta and Philidelphia but as we mainly go in the winter months I just don't want the stress of it.We do travel cattle class and that's fine ...I pay for an extra suitcase coming home and the extra money we would have spent on upgrading I would rather spend in Vegas.Someone on here recommended the inflatable foot rest and I have to say it's perfect..I put my headphones on ,feet up and watch the movies or read.We are at 29 days countdown...trip number 19 I think !!!!

    Hi all,

I have been following the discussions re economy or premium economy with thomas cook & Virgin from Manchester.

I am saving virgin flying club points and plan is to get enough to get 2 x premium economy flights to Vegas - i understand that i will still have taxes and other costs to pay with the "reward" flights.

But now i am wondering whether it is worthwhile or not using the Virgin points as Thomas Cook cash flights are much cheaper ?

Or is it worth it for the Virgin PE quality ?

Hi love hearing about all your recent trips. We have only be to Vegas twice and both times at Christmas but we are thinking about going next Easter and have been looking at prices. Flights for that time of year are pretty high so we have had a look at packages and have found some good deals (we think they are good but you all might have different ideas) and wondered if anyone could give us some advice as to whether they are good value for money and what the hotels are like.

    The first one is
    Mardi Gras Hotel and Casino
USA, Nevada, Las Vegas, The Strip £1492 for 7 nights

    The second is
    Excalibur Hotel & Casino
USA, Nevada, Las Vegas, The Strip £1657 for 7 night

Both are with Thomas Cook. We have stayed at the Platinum on our last visits but with fights at around £1200+ and then hotel on top plus travel to Manchester as we can't find any good deals out of London which is closest to us the price is just going up.

    Many thanks

Is that per person or for both of you?
The Excalibur price is near to what we paid last year just after easter but for 9 days (got 3 days free at hotel through My Vegas facebook game).

Kit1, firstly is the price for two passengers? Without knowing your exact dates it is difficult to give a definate opinion on price comparing a package against DIY trip.

Anyway the two hotels you have chosen are on the lower end of the quality and desirability scale, although I have read many reports of Excalibur being suitable for those on a budget, location wise it is nearer the south end of the strip but a stroll away from the strip attractions.

As for Mardi Gras, not sure why you have chosen that, was it soley on price? Having stayed there twice on a solo trip earlier this year I can comment and although it met my needs, I would not recommend the hotel for a couples stay. Reasons it is a distance from the strip, the rooms are old and personally if I fancied reaxing for a few hours that wouldn't be the place even the room I wouldn't be happy chilling out as a couple. I used it soley for a bed for the night. The benefits for my stay were the complimentary airport and strip shuttle, cheap rate & $5 resort fee. Many of the locals on tripadvisor say the area around Mardi Gras isn't the best.

Are you signed up with any players cards i.e. CET or Mlife? Smartervegas often have links to great rates booking direct with the hotels.

What are your dates and departure airport? Maybe we can help you a little more.

Hi both and thank you for your replies. Sorry forgot to mention dates - we are looking to go around 7 April for 7 nights (school holidays which are always more expensive, but that's what happens when you work in school).

These we just 2 of a list that came up on the Thomas Cook website. The Mardi Gras Hotel and Casino because it was just off the strip and the Excalibur Hotel & Casino for no other reason than price really. The price was for 2 people for 7 nights.

I have also found this one too;-
    Desert Rose Resort
USA, Nevada, Las Vegas, The Strip

As l said we have stayed at the Platinum which is just behind Bally's so don't mind walking to and from the strip.

If you have any better ideas on good deals l would be grateful.

    Again thanks many thanks.

Kit1, quick search for you cheapest flights I am finding are out of Man with AA/BA inc baggage for around £600, Thomas Cook is similar althjough I am not sure if bags are additional. From London flights are at least £100 more. So the question is do you want direct or save going indirect?

Now accomodation wise that week seems pretty expensive, the weeks either side are cheaper. Not sure why as Easter isn't until the weekend of April 19 plus I can't see any major conventions on at that time.

So possible options are out of the two I would go for Excal or hang fire and wait for the next flight sale and just keep a check on hotel prices. The benefit of booking the hotels direct is that normally you can cancel if a better offer comes available. Booking as a package it is difficult to change your hotel plans.

Another point on your original quotes does that include resort fees? Mardi Gras wil be about $40 whilst Excal is about $250 for the 7 days.

    Good luck.

I could only find flights of around £1200+ direct, not sure we want to hang around an airport for hours. Not sure if l mentioned the prices for both hotels are for 2 people inc flights.

We did wonder if we should wait and see if prices go down. We can fly from Sat 6 April and need to be back 23 April so any time between then for 7 days is fine. We do prefer smaller type hotels.
