I am going to be blunt , but you are to soft on your children. You have not got the means to keep paying mobile phones, car insurance and whatever else you spend on them.
My children had no choice but to stand on their own two feet when they went to university, I simply couldn't help them. They learnt to budget , and I have to say it stood them in good stead . They both have bought their own homes at 23 and 24 .
We all want the best for our children but sometimes you have to draw the line .
Sorry if this sounds harsh .0 -
Hi Cumbria Lass no not too harsh at all and I agree completely. My DH also says the same - his parents moved away from him and left him to fend for himself at 19. So the deal is when they get to uni they find jobs that will supplement them to pay for these things - the gap from the maintenance loan to pay for their accommodation, their mobiles and car insurance.
Narola - my thoughts exactly with the food. I'm also hoping that the utility bills come down a bit and I will put less in the emergency fund.
When the time comes I will do a new soa and see if I can bring everything down.
Basically I've been a silly girl and need to change everything with some hardships to come.
Thanks everyone.Just one figure from now on - Total Debt as at 27.8.18 - £44,061.26.

Not been posting for 4 days but trying to get up to date with Abba1772's diary - she is amazing. So a few plusses so far this week:
Have 4 items on eBay - one will sell for at least £60 as we have a bid and it doesn't end until Sunday.
The other 3 don't have bids yet but watchers - they are only a few quid.
We are getting £172 refund on our unit as we left it pristine and we get the deposit back.
Sold a few more items on FB so that goes in the pot.
Big thing now is A-Level results tomorrow for the DT's this is what we have all been waiting for. I'll be proud whatever but I can feel an accommodation deposit coming along.
Made a couple of payments to my Virgin card over the last two days £61 and £23 so it is coming down and not going up!

I know £75 was back in the day when I thought money was not an issue - how wrong was I?
I googled Iresa and it said they are not taking on anymore customers at the moment as they are having issues with complaints and they want to sort those out first. So I don't want to jump from the frying pan into the fire.
I pay £34 insurance and £50 for Medivet with means all the boosters, flea treatment etc are included plus discounts on consultants and food. However, I'm not sure if it is worth £720 a year or should I budget myself for those things?
Well A Level results came in yesterday - one was extremely happy as she has the unconditional offer and her results surpassed what she had expected. The other one who worked her socks off didn't get her first choice so we went through clearing and got another place at another Uni doing the same course. Luckily it is the same distance. So now we are waiting on accommodation places for both and then will have to pay the deposits.
I've paid two payments to my Virgin card this week of over £60 and been living off Facebook sales. I have 4 items ending on Sunday and have bids on 2 of them - one for £60. We get paid next Friday so will have to eek it out until then - I'm not putting any more on credit!!
Have a nice weekend allxJust one figure from now on - Total Debt as at 27.8.18 - £44,061.26.

Hmmmm thats silly i had with my ex partner 6 siberian huskies, we looked into insuring all six and it was silly money ie 70-80 quid a month. All of our dogs came from a top breeder kc registered with 20 years experience in the breed and her words not mine boosters are a waste of time. The breeder had 35 siberian huskies all whom were raced and she would give the puppy vaccines, the the 12 month down the line booster then that was it.
Anything more than that your weakening the dogs natural immune system and your putting chemicals in the dog which it may not react with well
A booster on its own would cost 35-40, me and the ex never had pet insurance for obvious reasons we just saved 20 quid pm.

Hi Scott
Thanks for letting me know. Ok I will cancel this and put £20 away a month. Don't they need boosters though if they go to day care? Ours aren't at day care at the moment but have been and may go back at some point. I think the cat has to have them if he stays at a Cattery?
