    Hi all,

Weezl's new year's resolution: I have just started a cash only challenge (just the cash in the house- £68) plus store cupboard to cover all non-bills spends for as long as we can, so food, fun, pocket money and fuel.

The best possible I think I can do is 9 weeks but that will be major :)

Hiya to Mooloo, and happpy new house! Hope 2011 is a great year for you :)

Potty so sorry to read your sad news but am glad things sound better than they could have been, IYSWIM?

CFR-news, we have been given several vouchers, ready for our recipe challenge competition, so if people would like to have a think about what the competition might entail, that'd be great, we need the rules to be carefully thought about, I think...

So far I think a main meal for 4 people at no more than 50p per person and containing at least 2 of your 5 a day?

Happy new money-saving year to you all :)

Wow impressive challenge Weezl- Keep us updated on how you are getting on if you can. I love reading your challenges :) Goodluck!

Our freezer is ridiculously full so I am trying to eat out of the freezer to make some space at the moment. Some of our meals have certainly been interesting combinations!
Money paid out from Topcashback so far= £105.89 :j
No buying magazines in 2011 Challenge- Number bought to date= 0 :)

I have to find an extra £50 a month so will be doing a relatively frugal few months too. Food budget is the only place to make savings unless DH gives up smoking.
business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

PB if the smoking is a non-negotiable for DH, I wonder what you think of the idea of growing and drying tobacco?

One of the old-style threads discusses it I think and says it's around a third of the price of regular cigarettes even on your first 'batch' IYSWIM?

I'll be interested to read more about your frugal challenge! Is your freezer well-stocked? xxx

    spaghetti marmite

Do you have a recipe for this Weezl ?
Or is it just literally cooked spaghetti and marmite ?
It does sound very interesting .... I love marmite

I recall Nigella doing the spaghetti and marmite thing. I'm sure she just mixed the marmite in some melted butter and then run it through the pasta with a litte of the cooking water.
Plan to try this myself. :)

it is lovely! And a further frugalisation is to do half and half oil to butter and it also works with 'can't believe it's not butter' type spreads too, for extra cheapness :)
