Pay ALL your debt off by Xmas 2019 18th Dec 18 at 1:24 PM
Welcome to Pay ALL Your Debt Off By Xmas 2019!

Firstly I would like to welcome all new and existing members from last years thread.

Anyone is welcome to join this challenge and it is NEVER too late. There is also no amount of money too small or too large that will stop you from joining this challenge. We have several members who will be on their debt journey for several years to come, but they are part of this thread to pay off a fixed amount of their debt as the support on here is fantastic!
So, if you think you can pay off all your debts by Christmas or have a goal to pay off a certain amount then please join in!

This challenge runs until 27th December 2019.

To help me run this thread easily, could you please all post your totals in large text and in a bold colour and post the amount you have paid off // target amount

It would also be a big help if you could also put with it your challenge number.
i.e. another £50 paid off so now the total paid off for

    #001 is £315.43/£7685.67
By the way, don't worry about working out your % paid as I can do that for you!

    Official MoneySavingExpert insert, 14 Jan:

Want to join the challenge? Please post your debt amount on this thread and ask to join. Muppets will assign you a special number (eg, #001), which you'll then start all your posts with.

You can also get help in the Debt free wannabe board and Debt Help guide.

If you haven’t already, join the forum to join in the challenge.

Good luck everyone and thanks to muppets for the original post!

This Forum tip was included in MoneySavingExpert.com's weekly email!

I've been going through the same thing myself the last few weeks. I'm back into work now, which is day contracts. Just been trying to get used to the shifts. Think i'm almost there now.

    Congratulations everyone
Huge congratulations to everyone who made a dent in their debts or smashed their targets.
I'm very embarrassed to say that Mr BigDreams and I will have to sign up for next year's challenge. As no. 110 I managed to dump over £7000 in debt earlier this year.
Unfortunately one of our cars gave up the ghost in summer so back in debt again as it happened before we'd managed to build up some savings. Currently owe £6960 to parents which we aim to clear by next christmas.
Feel so stupid being in debt again and it put me off coming back to cheer people on as I didn't want to admit I was no longer debt free (those 4 months of actually being debt were great though) so let's do it all again x

    Hi All,

Well done and thank you- the help here really spurred me on this year, and I couldn't have hit my target so efficiently without all the encouragement on this thread- i truly mean that

Although my personal circumstances and therefore financial priorities have somewhat altered this last quarter of 2019, I still have the desire to be everything but mortgage debt free by the end of 2020- so my target will be whatever I have outstanding at the start of the year! I will more than likely need a new car soon so I think that it may be a bumpy ride, and go backwards a bit at some point.

So, a bit nervous but I'll take it on, and hope that with everyones help i'll give it my best shot- and succeed. See you all in the 2020 thread people, happy holidays

It’s been a difficult year money wise and I’ve been trying to keep my head above water so actually pleased I’ve paid off 30% next year will be my 3rd year on this thread and I will do it. I did it before but I had no contingency fund for things breaking so any ideas on how to try to build up that greatly appreciated. If I can get a proper job I may even do this sooner. You are all doing brilliantly. I’d like the same number for next year if this is running again. Have a great holiday see you all on the other side xxxx

Next year will be my debt free year - final target. I thought it was going to be this year but I was over-ambitious. Now that I know I'm going to make it next year I am more relaxed and realistic.

My update includes my latest payments and I will start again on next year's thread.
