Pay ALL your debt off by Xmas 2019 18th Dec 18 at 1:24 PM
Welcome to Pay ALL Your Debt Off By Xmas 2019!

Firstly I would like to welcome all new and existing members from last years thread.

Anyone is welcome to join this challenge and it is NEVER too late. There is also no amount of money too small or too large that will stop you from joining this challenge. We have several members who will be on their debt journey for several years to come, but they are part of this thread to pay off a fixed amount of their debt as the support on here is fantastic!
So, if you think you can pay off all your debts by Christmas or have a goal to pay off a certain amount then please join in!

This challenge runs until 27th December 2019.

To help me run this thread easily, could you please all post your totals in large text and in a bold colour and post the amount you have paid off // target amount

It would also be a big help if you could also put with it your challenge number.
i.e. another 50 paid off so now the total paid off for

    #001 is 315.43/7685.67
By the way, don't worry about working out your % paid as I can do that for you!

    Official MoneySavingExpert insert, 14 Jan:

Want to join the challenge? Please post your debt amount on this thread and ask to join. Muppets will assign you a special number (eg, #001), which you'll then start all your posts with.

You can also get help in the Debt free wannabe board and Debt Help guide.

If you haven’t already, join the forum to join in the challenge.

Good luck everyone and thanks to muppets for the original post!

This Forum tip was included in MoneySavingExpert.com's weekly email!

Bit the bullet and sent 10 to my CC to round it down to 1,800. Would have loved to send more to take it into the next hundred marker but will have to wait until after payday

So I’m now sitting at 2,361 paid off, inching closer!

Some good news and bad news this month.

Bad news: I was very naughty and opened a PayPal credit account. I've put a 113 ferry ticket on it which will be interest-free over the next four months.

Good news: I have cleared the last of the MBNA account with a 5p payment, and ramped up the payments on the Tesco account with another 81 paid. My savings account matured and gave me 40 of interest.

Coupled with the first 30 paid off the PayPal, this means:

    #173 Paid 111.05 = 2,781.18 / 5,913

Hi, I know its a bit late in the year but can I join you all? Had a LBM a few days ago and have had a complete change of mindset re: spending so I guess that's a good start. Outstanding debt currently stands at 24,000 but is all in one place with a relatively low rate of interest (about 3.5%).

I've changed phone/broadband supplier and saved nearly 20 a month, have already reduced gas/elec by lecturing teenagers and banning baths (which should also have a positive knock-on regarding horrendous water rates). I sent back my car which was on PCP and bought a cheap run-around and am doing a car boot sale to get rid of a load of stuff this weekend. I've also signed up to a cash-back card which gives money back on my weekly shopping bill (only 2.5% but every little helps right?). Fortunately I'm in a position to do overtime too, so I'm planning to do at least 2 extra shifts a month which should be sustainable without killing me off.

Obviously I'm not going to shift the debt by Christmas but I'm going to set myself a tentative 2,000 target. I'm hoping that getting it all down on here and belonging to the group will keep me motivated when it all becomes a little less exciting!

Long term I'd like to clear the lot within 4 years...

    Welcome MaggieMcV.

Looks like you're making the right changes to get this sorted...

I always find checking back in here to look at your progress, or even paying a small amount towards the debt helps keep things positive.
