After all the 'green' taxes that are added to people's energy bills, all the freebie energy saving guff the energy providers are wastefully forced to give away to meet quotas, all the rank stupidity over the misguided smart meter roll out... after all that in the name of cutting energy usage, Ofgem still greenlights a tariff that virtually encourages you to waste electricity. You couldn't make it up!

OFGEM have no input into tariffs except for the price cap on certain products.
The rest of the time it is solely down to the energy company to do what ever they want. Like here with a massively expensive tariff for most people.

You'd think an almost brand new type of tariff would have to at least be run past the regulator first. A new type of product would have to be in my field (Finance) at least. Although OFGEM are so useless you're probably right!
