Hubby's payday today. So my fun day in ynab :rotfl: he is now feeling skint, having to pay £300 on trians every month is taking a toll. He is on the same money as in his previous role (he basically had a demotion when he took this new job, but after a year at home he needed it) but has the added travel costs. But it is a good company to work for so needs to suck it up!

So categories filled, rather than going forward to march and filling the bills I have put the amount into the emergency fund line, am having a think about buffer Vs emergency fund ATM.

Tumble dryer paid for, and overpayment of £315.13 to the new loan, so new loan balance is

£11247.65. first official payment is 15th February, then interest will go in which I will pay off. The payment will come out of my wages which go in around the 11th. Was hoping to get it under 10k today, bloody tumble dryer  but the normal payment will almost get it there, so will see what extra I can out on it after I get paid. Have some more ironing to do this week, an extra £10.

A busy weekend. Night out on Friday, cost £3 over due to splitting the bill and the restaurant adding the service charge on as standard. Bit frustrated at that tbh. But had the money in entertainment. Saturday went to town and had a bit of a 'i don't care let's spend' moment. Luckily, I didn't go overboard, shoes (money from clothing) passport pics (money already set aside for this) couldn't find any passport applications and the post office was rammed, apparently you can do it online, will have to have a look at it, but no idea how you get the photos verified?

Saturday afternoon I took the smallest to the cinema (tickets through hubby's work scheme so nearly half price.) £3.50 for popcorn and drink, tried to use the £13 credit I have on the Lloyd's credit card from paying off balance transfer but I haven't actually activated the card, so had to be taken out of the food budget, will use the credit card tonight when I top up the food shop.

Went out to friends on Saturday night £15 for a taxi, my entertainment money is now at 7p with payday being the 11th Feb! But nothing planned next weekend and the weekend after is our weekend away which I have £250 set aside for already.

Going to be a long couple of weeks I think. Not a lot left in the food budget either, money for that on the 10th.

So been a bit slack posting this week. Not been the best week at school for the smallest which has impacted on my mood a bit I think. Had a meeting on Tuesday which, although positive, has highlighted a few challenges that will come up in the next couple of months. I sometimes feel that I am barely holding it together at the moment.

Nothing much has happened with the finances. Most categories are low or empty, I have enough in petrol to see us through to next Friday when the tax credits go in which covers petrol for the next four weeks. Child benefit comes in on tuesday, no council tax so £100 towards our paris trip. My sister managed to pick up passport forms, so will grab them from her tomorrow and speak to the vicar on Sunday.

Tomorrow I need to take the old dryer to the tip and then as there is enough in car maintenance I will go and grab two new tyres. Been dithering about this but after looking at them this morning I can't out it off anymore.

    Hi drawing,
Sorry to hear you!!!8217;ve had problems with the school. My oldest is 10 and is autistic, it took a long long time for the school to get all his adjustments made and a lot of meetings. He starts secondary school in September and I am dreading starting all over again.
Sounds like you are all sorted for your trip, when are you going? I am very jealous!
Cars are so expensive arent they. I passed my driving test a few years ago at 28 so quite late really, and I really resent the amount of money it costs. I guess because I have only been driving for 6 years I really notice the difference. Tyres are an essential spend though. I try to think of it as you can!!!8217;t really put a price on safety.

Thanks rexel. My middle son has Asperger's, but bizarrely has needed minimal help at school. He is increasingly odd, but seems to be quite a popular boy and is happy with his own company anyway. He doesn't cope well doing things outside school though, no hobbies and doesn't play with toys, the iPad is his friend! He was diagnosed before he started school which meant he has had a program in place since yrR. He has an IEP but hasn't needed a 'statement' (always forget what they are called now!) But that does worry me for secondary as I think that may be a struggle for him. He goes into yr5 in September (he is 9 next week) and the idea of going to look at secondary schools is freaking me out!

The smallest is incredibly clever academically, but lacks any kind of confidence in his ability with anything. He is a proper anxious bod, and traditional schooling is definitely not a great fit. However I am not cut out for homeschooling (and need to work to pay the mortgage) so we are trying to find a balance for him. He has attended a specialist behaviour unit since September which has helped him massively, but he definitely has sensory processing problems and hates the big classroom at mainstream, and cannot cope with the noise. He reacts violently, which is the main issue, he needs a one to one full time which atm the school are struggling to provide. He is being assessed for a statement and in the mean time he has a one to one 80% of the time. His violent outbursts are reducing, and if he has one he is calming down much quicker, bit the incident on Monday was out of character even for him! He has been better throughout the week, I think he really knew he was in trouble.

But it breaks my heart every day to send him into an environment where he is so uncomfortable, and I must admit I am already worried about the coming years with him.

    So a new week!

Quick break at work to catch up. Went and saw my mum on Saturday, we have a tentative truce, but I am still so upset by the whole incident. Also spoke to my dad about the possibility of some more money from an inheritance. (He mentioned last year there was more to come) he has decided to keep hold of the last portion (it all went to him, he generously passed some down) but any of us children can access it if we have a massive need, a third we can keep the rest we would pay back. This is fab, my third would almost clear our debt, but it's not 'my' money so at least now I know what my budget looks like for the coming year (the idea some more money might trickle down at some point was weighing on me a bit) but also means that we do have a cushion if anything dire happens.

Most categories in ynab are bare and I am having to shift a bit around to cover food spending. This month our food bill has been HIGH! A change in supermarket (even with discount) always incurs extra spending for the first month I think as we get used to it, I need to set up online shopping as going into the store is not helping. Also that wonderful subject food tech has reared its ugly head, the girl is making flapjacks today (luckily all ingredients in stock as she mentioned it last night at 8pm ) and the boy is doing carrot cake tomorrow, so will possibly need to dash out and grab something for that.

I stupidly haven't made my sandwiches for today, and I will need to eat (trouble with a physical job, I can't skip a meal) so will have to rob a category to cover that :(

I get paid around the 11th, so just one more week to limp through, and food money is available from the 13th, but will probably order the shopping for next Monday, and them enter it in ynab for the Tuesday, use the buffer to cover it. I often have to do this depending on delivery slots etc.

I paid for the boys passport renewal online but I have the forms filled out for post office check and send for the little twos as theirs are new ones and wanted the added security. I am off to the vicars tonight to get them all countersigned, then hopefully in the post sometime this week! Hoping the boys is back within a week so I can give the school his passport number (he is going abroad with them in may half term) and also need to order the European health card things too.

I need a list I think! Anyway break over, radio back on, and back to it.:o
