We currently have an interest-only mortgage in my husbands name. We want to sell our foreign property (fully paid for but taking its time to sell so this may necessitate a smaller repayment mortgage until such time as the sale goes through), pay off the UK mortgage and have the deeds logged in our joint names.
Also we are finding our house too big for the two of us and have seen smaller properties locally that would suit our needs better and reduce our outgoings. What is the best and cheapest way to sell and buy a property only a few doors away. We are anxious to avoid paying excessive amounts of stamp duty and fees to solicitors, estate agents, etc
Any help would be much appreciated.

first step would be to spread the word locally - my dad told some friends he was thinking of downsizing next thing he knew one of the neighbours made an offer for the house. he ended up selling it to them for about 10k above market rate and avoided all contact with estate agents. good luck.0
