Finally paid my overdue redress of £1000 after a long and frustrating wait. Added to my list of Wonga, Sunny and PDUK and over £5000 claimed back! For those of you still claiming keep going and chasing and it will all be worth it in the end!

How did you go about the claim via post or email telephone ? What template letters did you use ?
Congratulations i have several to start claiming with Drafty, PDUK, The Money Shop to name a few....

Took 15 months in total from original complaint. Took 40 days after FOS ordered to pay redress. Sham of a company that lends money in minutes

And yet you took full advantage of that to take money from them. What does that make you?

Yeah of course of my 9,000 pound wage that year I gave them well over 5,000 pounds in being stuck in a vicious circle which I am still paying off 8 years later.

You seem to be confused over the term "compensation."

If QQ gave loaned you £1000 it's only reasonable to expect them to get the £1000 back. That puts you in the same position as you would have been had the loan never been given.

Paying you back the £4000 in interest and charges that you paid is not compensation, however. And you certainly wouldn't be entitled to be given, for the sake of argument, £4500 back.

    A human being?

Perhaps, but I think the point that they were making is that they're no better than the company they're badmouthing?

    People in glass houses?

At least that's my take on that comment.

    I don't agree.

I think that the fact the OP borrowed from QQ at 1300.5% APR (representative) demonstrates desperation and possibly feeling that they sadly had no other viable options...

    Bankruptcy, IVA, DMP?

All are at least a little bit "unpalatable" but so are payday loans.

Seemed like they were judging Aqua1985 without knowing the specifics relating to their situation to me. What does that make me? (don't hold back on your judgement of me. I have openly invited you to answer the Q)

I was really referring to whether companies are people. In the US they are but I'm not sure if they are in the UK.

They weren't posting about Aqua1985 as far as I can see. They were replying to the "new" poster.

It can all get very confusing, especially when people are sockpuppeting their own posts, which appears to be a theme of recent times

As a side note, here's an example of a post which makes me chuckle when you compare it to a thread like this:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=76148228&postcount=1

It isn't quite in the same league as the "spent 5k+ on a new kitchen and broke up 2 years later" story which often tickles me, particularly with young married couples (which could fit the "irresponsible borrowing" category in my books but with respect to decent credit ratings and low APRs), but it does have some of the hallmarks. Could you imagine it if, for example, OP was saddled with payday loan debts to the tune of 1.6k and had 1.1k of savings elsewhere?! A few users on here would have a field day with that :rotfl:

There needs to be a bit of humility when it comes to threads like this AND the one I quoted in this post. The concept of "irresponsible borrowing", I feel, can apply to a number of scenarios but one must consider the possibility of "irresponsible lending" as well.

Everyone does, but a common theme is that it's ALWAYS the lenders fault.

    Is it, really?

People need to take charge of the own affairs instead of blaming everyone else.

This presupposes that OP was actually weighing these various considerations up rationally. In my experience most people have little or no idea what APR is and certainly have no idea in the context of a 30 or 60 day loan.
