Old Style Daily Friday 13th July 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning everyone .

I went to visit someone who is in the nursing home that my mum was in. He comes from the same small town where my brother lives, and his mother was the mayor many years ago. His son is abroad at the moment and I know that he really loves visitors.

Today I will go back to having a wander around and spend the afternoon in the park. There is only next week until the schools break up for the summer and everywhere will be so busy that I want to make the most of the relative calm. I do like to see the children enjoying themselves and having fun, but I don’t like the queues for everything and the trying to avoid banging into people.

There is one load in the washing machine that needs to go out on the line before I go out, and I want to have a quick sweep up outside and the side paths.

Good to hear that your mum is home Gers.

Bellabella I’m thinking of you and your family and hope that things are improving for your daughter.

Hopefully your back is ok today nanny.

Snoozer have a good time a Scarborough. It’s somewhere I’ve never been, but has always looked nice to me.

It sounds like you are having a busy retirement Hester.

TA that Specialist Nurse sounds like she is on the ball. Hopefully she will be able to sort out a few things for Mr TA. Getting the GP to refer Mr TA to the OT sounds like a good idea.

Take care and have a good day everyone.

Hello and thank you for starting the thread Hollyharvey.

I have had a wakeful night, not helped by the police helicopter circling for quite awhile, no idea what for, some neighbours chatting amicably but loudly and my DS watching television and generally pottering about. I gave up at 2.30.

We are forecast thunderstorms today. Yesterday a shower or two failed to materialise other than a few drops of rain so I'll wait and see. Everything is parched and dusty and the air is muggy so I'd welcome a rainy day and then perhaps it might feel fresher. And smell fresher.

I will probably go back to bed later, for now I'm going to see if there is anything on TV, there are a couple of things I'd like to watch on catch up if nothing else and I'll start the next round of teddy bear knitting.

Hope everyone has a good day.

    Morning Holly and all,

Not a wink of sleep I've had all night. Had a message from TBO just before bed.
Diva was at nursery yesterday and has come back with some pretty substantial marks round her neck.

I've persuaded her to take her to the doctors this morning. I googled the nursery website and found one worrying review.

Concerned about Prodigal and Youngest isn't in a good place either.

Gers good news that your Mum is home.

Bellabella thinking of you and your daughter.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all.

    Good morning everyone :hello:
Sorry I haven't been posting, I have managed to read along but haven't had the oomph to put finger to keyboard as it were.

I've been awake for a good long while worrying about things and remembering other stuff that is upsetting. I'm all of a muddle really trying to organise Lee's care especially his education before the schools shut down for the Summer. I don't think I am getting very far even though I have sent out quite a few emails and texts to the relevent people. I think people are in holiday mode already . I have ordered some more GCSE workbooks for English and Maths for the both of us so I can try and help him a bit. Should be interesting as it has been quite some years since I had to do anything like that and I am a bit rusty to say the least.

I am not in a good place so I am going back to reading along for a bit. Hope you all have a good day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Morning folks and thanks HOLLY for starting us off. ((HUGS)) DUMPLING and JUDI, So many worries for you both. JUDI those marks definitely need looking at by a doctor I agree.

A lot of cloud cover this morning but we don't have rain forecast. I am envious of those who do - I never thought I would be saying that!!

We ended up with a lodger after all last night!! Eldest DGD's computer has died on her and she had a presentation to put on for a school project. She asked nicely if she could stay here and use mine! She was no bother and DD says this new morning routine is working well and they have had no early morning arguments all week! A minor miracle! So I have told her I shall go in once, and only once, at 7.00 to make sure she is up and getting ready to be at her friends for the lift at 8.00. If not she will be walking to school!!

Being that day it's Friday Tidy day again. Yet another half hearted lick and a promise, it's all I have the energy and motivation for these days. (So you are not alone with that SILVER-OLDIE.) Waiting for cooler weather is my excuse.

Righto folks time for another coffee before I get myself up and at 'em. ((HUGS)) for all in need/want of them. BELLABELLA I hope things are improving for you all. Take care everybody xx

De-lurking to say........Dumpling, you carry the most tremendous burdens on your shoulders every hour, every day of your life. More than most of us will meet in a lifetime. You do it with the utmost grace and humour. At the moment you are also adjusting to a completely different mindset about Lee. How you keep all the balls in the air I simply can't imagine.
You are one amazing woman, and I am utterly and completely in awe of you.

    Bless you my darling.

    Morning

Yeah it rained overnight and quite a bit so it defo feels a bit fresher this morning.

Good day yesterday but the longer trip and no early finish meant I was exhausted by 8pm so went to bed. Slept till 5 so must have been tired.

So feet up Friday today although I do want to do some stuff around the house ready for the weekend. Washing from the week is on and if I can get the kitchen and lounge more respectable I will be happy.

Food last night was M+S crispy duck as I had to call in to pick up some ordered sale stuff and the duck leapt into my basket along with a nice crisp rose ...probably why I fell asleep at 8 :D

Need to have a fridge clear out today so will probably end up with lots of left over gubbins :)Have a good day all especially TAs and Gers mum. Bella bella hope your daughter is a bit better today

    Morning folks.

The weather is a little fresher this morning, maybe a little respite?

After DM arrived home yesterday there was a flurry of activity - putting away stuff and a washing load done, then I sat down to devise a spreadsheet of medicines she has to take and then daily checklists for her to tick off. That I enjoyed. :j. Then I took to my bed early and slept the best sleep for three weeks when all this first started.

Interestingly (for me) the medics were impressed with the Fitbit readings on DM's tablet. It gave them an overview of the extreme tachycardia over the three weeks.

My hair cut is a blessed relief, all that weight taken off. Today the cleaner is coming and a man from social services to deliver / check a toilet guard for DM.

Dumpling - you are so busy giving everyone support, please give yourself a break! TA - you too please.

    Happy Friday to everyone.
