    Welcome to our new thread

It's Summer time so it's time to shift the lbs and get the figure you've always wanted

Welcome to the place where we encourage you not to save 's but to lose Lb's instead

So you wanna lose weight? Whether you want to lose a few pounds or several stone - you've come to the right place! Need a chat, a shoulder, encouragement and advice perhaps or even some downright silliness (even late at night or early in the morning)??

Pull up a chair and join in the chat, whatever plan you're following to lose weight, be it SW, WW, RC, or just plain old reducing what you eat and increasing the exercise, there'll be someone here that can help and advise, or offer moral support. The more you join in the chat more support you will get from the thread.

There are plenty of regulars here who follow all types of plan and will be willing and able to help you out or at least point you in the right direction.

During the course of the week, feel free to post your weekly loss, gain or no change, and see your results in a chart that's updated every Wednesday evening. To help me quickly spot the losses late at night, please post the loss as BOLD and Colourful as possible (Its helps those of us with bad eyes )

The chart is currently maintained by me, so if you can post your result before 10pm on a Wednesday you will be included on the chart.

Also you can take part in the 5lb monthly challenge - This is a fun mini motivational monthly challenge, in which the goal of losing 2lb per week, is spread out to 5lb per month. To get started so get your name down quick and post your name and start the new list. You could be Slimmer of the Week, or Slimmer of the Month!

We also currently have a monthly team challenge so if you want to join one of the teams it's never too late. This month we've a Home v Away challenge. If you want to take part send me a pm with the team you want to join and your starting weight. Then post your loss (or gain) each Wednesday

Sometimes we also have a monthly exercise challenge this month we're climbing the equivalent of the Blackpool Tower twice a week. We try to make these challenges suitable for all levels of fitness to encourage as many people to take part.

    A few abbreviations:
STS ~ Stay The Same (No change in weight)
SOTW ~ Slimmer Of The Week
SOTM ~ Slimmer Of The Month

We have plenty of recipes to help you in the recipes thread (link below) and there are links to useful websites below.
There are some friendly peoples 'Before and After' Pics on Lose Weight 19 and 20

So come and join us, we're a friendly bunch! There are even one or two gentlemen hiding amongst us! You might even enjoy it

Wow Roland, that's epic, well done!

Glad to hear you're on the mend now, Dom

[-1lb this week and 5 hours brisk walking.

Been a bit under the weather the last few days, so no aerobics alas. Giving myself a few days and will be back on it next week

Well done everyone taking part .

As usual I will keep recording all exercise done up to the 1st August and post the final chart next week.

Next months challenge will be to swim the English Channel (21 miles) - all exercise will count - I'll convert it to the appropriate miles. If you wish to join the challenge please post below.

Here's the chart for our Home v Away team challenge this week.

Congratulations to the Away team who've won this week and the Home team who've won this month.

Congratulations Roland, that loss is mega. Good on you.

If I May, i would like to give the 5lb challenge a go.

Relating to the monthly challenge, does the exercise include the walking done during my day to day life? I am a school caretaker, so am wandering around for most of my working week. ( i do my 10000 steps daily!!)

    Sy..
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..

Once again I managed to forget to post on Wed,sorry Fred.
It was another STS for me anyway,I seem to be getting very good at maintaining!!
Have upped the exercise this week, so hopefully the scale will start moving on them right direction again soon.
Tried Sh' bam last night. It is a dance based class and quite good fun, so hopefully will keep going to that.
Can I join the 5lb challenge and the Channel challenge. Would love to do the channel challenge by swimming, but not sure how many lengths that it. Off to find out.
Ooh, will join the seaside team please Fred. It is the nearest I will get to a holiday this summer

Hmm, have checked it out and would need to do just over 45 lengths a day during August. I am away for 3 days during August, so would need to increase the lengths on a few other days.
Not sure whether I can do it, but will give it a go and see how far I get. As I am off work for the summer, I think I will get up early and get to the pool. Hopefully if I go early enough it wont be full of children!!

Yes the exercise can take in any exercise - including walking that you do during the day - though general walking will count for less miles than more strenuous exercise if that makes sense.

a 3lb loss this week, using recipes from the hairy bikers diet book for inspiration.

I don't think i will keep up this rate when school comes back. I will be back at the desk job 3 days a week.

Just back from weigh in, 4lb loss this week.

Was working most of the week and only managed 4.74 miles walking. Must try harder.

Well done everyone, and thanks for all the efforts Fred.

    Hi everyone, especially the newbies!

I've been AWOL for the past couple of weeks - completely forgot the week before last, and then I wasn't at home to weigh myself last Wednesday. Sad to report that I've only lost a paltry -0.8lbs in the past three weeks Not surprising though, as I've been eating out lots as usual, and plenty of alcohol-fuelled nights out too. At least I haven't gained, I suppose. Really want to get down another 2lbs to hit the 4 stone lost mark (I love milestones, lol). I've got a holiday coming up in September with two of my (slim) friends, so I'd like to lose as much as possible by then, before we hit the pool.

Hope everyone else has done better this week! I'm away for nine days from Friday, so won't be able to weigh in next week. Will probably also be overeating, but I'll try to restrain myself as much as possible See you in a fortnight!

Another STS for me please Fred.

Exercise this week so far -

    4 miles walk
    1 hour ballroom dancing
    45 min Spin
    34 lengths swimming - 25m pool.

As you can see I way short of the 45 lengths a day I challenged myself to do!!! Will try harder next week.

Good luck with the weight loss everyone.

STS this week, darn. 40 mins aerobics, four hours brisk walking.

A few strange weeks at work coming up, hoping I can fit in more aerobics over the next while, we'll see!

Been doing well with eating veggie snacks though, hope that good behaviour pays off soon
