    a few years ago - my pension increase was 0%....
    Also - with being based on CPI - rather than true RPI - We fall further and further behind true inflation

    Yes in April 2016 it was 0% but in April 2012 it was 5.2%.
    Since April 2011 CPI increase has been 19% but and RPI one would be 23%

    Right - so in 8 years =my pension has fallen behind the COL by 4%

    The year you are referring to, RPI was negative.

    And if you were in a private sector DB scheme, increases on post-97 would likely be capped not uncapped CPI, and those on pre-97 service potentially purely discretionary beyond any GMP.

    You say 'unenhanced' - was your pension reduced for early retirement? I suspect not, which is a massive enhancement!
    Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

    My situation is pretty unique - I left the civil service, 4 years pre medical retirement at age 46 - TUPEd to a private company - I was made redundant, my health deteriorated and I took medical retirement from my previous department on a retrospective, deferred and also preserved basis.
    Luckily this was a classic pension - pre neuvos !
    I was knocked back a fair bit due to this - but was extremely luck to get accepted for it !!
    In theory, I should have had my 25 years made up to 40 years - but it wasn't
    I also receive a small ill health pension from my final employer (which was reduced considerably)
