United Utilities - bit of a rant/warning

Our water etc is supplied by United Utilities. We are on a water meter and pay by monthly direct debit.
I received an email from them yesterday alerting me to the fact that they had generated a new bill which I could see online. When I looked at my account I could see that the account was in credit by more than £50.00 - all very good until I then noticed that they proposed increasing my next months payment by about £4.00, further clicks on the website showed that after next months increased payment they wanted to increase the subsequent payments for the year by over £8.00 per month.
I rang customer services and asked why they proposed to increase the payments to an account that was already in credit, didn't really get an explanation just them confirming that the account has always been in credit and would I prefer to revert to the existing payment plan - Yes please.
So, check your water account or you will be filling their bank account at the expense of your own.

You will be better off putting this in the water bored area.

Without meter readings and consumption figures, I doubt anybody could care. Is your consumption going up? or have you only paid for part of the year?0
