They will take just as long as you are prepared to give them. They have had more than a month so send them a letter before action and if they still dont pay, sue them

    Done an money claim online.

And within a week had the payment in full, so thanks for that advice.

Did you send TUI Airways a letter before action first? I assume not, given the timescales.

My LBA will be posted soon.

Have you put both flights into euclaim and bottonline they will tell you if they think you have a chance of compensation

Timothea, you have got your facts wrong and you may wish to remove your post. It is not TUI who are in difficulty, it is Thomas Cooks and if TUI see your post they might take great offence....

    Agreed,
Despite airlines continuing to break the law on a daily basis, with regards to eg 261/2004, it is not unknown for airlines to threaten legal action against members of this forum.

    Hi
We were due to fly on a Thomas Cook flight on 14th July at 6.20. We were told around 8.30 that the flight was cancelled and we managed to book onto a Jet2 flight which left at 4 that afternoon and which was approximately the same price. The replacement Thomas Cook flight was due to leave at 9am the following morning but we didn't want to wait as we were only going away for a few days. We arrived at our destination at 8.30 that night.
My question is - do we claim for a refund for the original cancelled flight AND compensation, or do we just claim the money back for the cancelled flight?
    Thanks

All depends on the reason for the cancellation. Put your flight details into bottonline and then euclaim and see what they say.
