Stocking up a college bag

Daughter starts college in September on a drama course.

As a nice surprise for her I want to stock up the items she'll need in a new college bag to give as a present on results/enrolment day.

I already have the bag, she loved it but we didn't buy as she thought it too expensive. What she doesn't know is I went back and found it further reduced.

She will be commuting out of area, around 40 miles away, journey will take in local train/bus to town train station. Then rail journey then a bus. Will take about an hour, dependant on traffic and timings.

So far my ideas are

power bank so her phone is always charged

bobbles for hair (drama students usually told to tie back hair so their facial expressions are seen)

Further ideas welcome. :)

I guess she already has plenty of black t-shirts / leggings? How about a stainless steel water bottle? Headphones?
  • Academic diary (I guess it depends but DD likes pen and paper!) Along the same lines, journal/ideas/project book.

    Umbrella.

Gift card for a food outlet close to train/bus station (in the event there is some kind of delay) or emergency snacks.

That is a really thoughtful idea, I hope she has a great time.

  • Does she have a smartphone with a reading app such as kindle or an e-reader - could put in a gift card for e-books both fictional and college related?

Could be worth getting TWO powerbanks if her battery is a bit dodgy or she has a tablet as well as a phone. When my battery started to die I needed to top up with the powerbank, then charge that before another use. So I used to put my spare powerbank into my bag when I put the one I'd used on to charge, otherwise I'd walk out without it ...

A book or two of stamps is always useful. And the painkillers of her choice could come in handy too.

But don’t put so much in the bag that she has no room for her own selection of must have items!

    Lovely idea btw

I got one from Wilkinsons for £5 a few months ago, they had blue, pink and brushed steel. I love it, it keeps cold water cold, and I haves stopped buying diet coke.
