Question re Specialist Home Insurance

Does anyone know about the technicalities of the home insurance industry and products?
I bought a house that the surveyor deemed showed some signs of subsidence and recommended the line across the wall be dealt with, which was duly done; the surveyor also noted that the property was on land that is at risk of subsidence.
However, there are hundreds of other properties on the same land in the area – if not thousands – and they are all doing just fine, and have done for decades, and there has not been an issue with subsidence to other properties in the area (except that the type of earth in the area, in general, is clay).
Ever since the surveyor report, I’ve been buying home insurance only from specialist insurers, those who specialise in subsidence among others. However, given that there is no longer any sign of subsidence, and the property has never been subject to subsidence, I wonder if I can switch to a ‘normal’ home insurance in the future, without the need to pay up for a specialist insurer?
I’d be grateful if someone knows about these things and would be happy to share your wisdom. Thank you.

Shows some signs of subsidence and then you say no subsidence. Do you mean there was a crack thought to be due to subsidence, but the problem area was repaired without a subsidence claim being required ?
How long ago did you get the survey report and have the repair work done ?
Have a look at Legal and General and see if they will accept under standard terms.
Re the area being known for subsidence, this means that there have been Insurance clalms for subsidence within the postcode area. This is not that important, as your property risk would be assessed on its own merits.The comments I post are personal opinion. Survey was done 18 months ago, and I acted immediately. The crack was dealt with straight away, and there has been no issue since.
