April I would never enter comps if they were all gleams. I just dint have the will to do them. I’ve only ever done a couple when it was something I really wanted to win.

April this was with a Show Film First. We had tickets for a local play with them last week

I heard on Monday that I’ve won a board game from Primary times from the web. Hope it comes before Christmas.

Well done finishing your course April and good luck with the comps. Nice to see you again.

Right, off to start the advents for the day! I was in town this morning to try and finish off my Christmas shopping, so I feel a bit behind now!

Morning, well done on the board game win leanfun. I won a small teddy on the advent a couple of days ago.I was working yesterday so only did a few advents last night before i went to bed.I was working today but they cancelled so will enjoy the time off.
Sorry you haven't been well sheils, hope you both feel better soon. There is a lot of bugs going around and as it's winter there seems to be more this year.
AprilLady, i expect the course sounded a good idea at the time, lol. But you have done it now.Well done. I have courses to do in my job some yearly, some 3 yearly and i hate it but they have to be done by law.
I am off shopping for a few bits later then going to comp.Hope you all have a lucky day.

Morning very dark and wet here today. Sheils hope you and husband are feeling a lot better. Take care. I had a look at a few mag dailies yesterday and there are lots of comps there for you. Never seen so many hotel stays.

Indie well done on the teddy win. Let’s hope there are more wins to come. I wasn’t going to do many advents but I’ve been sucked in. Hope you had a relaxing day when work was cancelled.

Later today DD2 is coming by herself to visit us for an overnight stay it’s going to be a very short visit but will be great to see her.

April we’ll done on completing your course. I went to college as a mature student and know it’s not easy.

Well good luck everyone with all the comps.

I got sucked in to the advents as well leanfun, lol. I was going to be so choosy this year then it sucks you in.Let's hope we all have a good win on them. Enjoy your day with your DD.
Hope you all have a lucky day

So comping has taken a back seat these past few years - would be really nice to win something in the Advents, but I'm not holding out much hope!
Enjoy the rest of your day everyone! I'm off to work now. *grumble*

Hope you get your confidence back AprilLady. You never know it's a new year soon.I hope you have some luck in the advents.
I was at work yesterday, but am off now till next friday, i was offered every day next week but i have Dr's and hospital visits and i am happy just doing 2-3 shifts a week.It wouldn't do my body any good doing more shifts anyway even if i wanted to do more, lol I had a great shift yesterday as was on bottom floor (residential) where the residents do nearly everything themselves so quite a lazy day really. DS is at work today his GF is going to a carol service with her nan, so most of the day is mine. Just going to catch up with comps. It's wet and windy here at the moment and set to get worse later so think inside is the best place to be. Hope you all have a good day.

    Good afternoon,

Managed to get out for a little walk this morning, first for long time as still not feeling great. This has been one of my worst colds ever. DH isn’t better either. It is so windy here today and started to rain now too.
DS3 is home at moment and brought a mountain of washing with him. His gf is arriving tomorrow for couple of days and then they are going to her parents before they go to work in Austria for 6mths. Hope it all works out.

Wishing everyone lots of luck x

I am off to the garage today, have a slow puncture in my back tyre so will get it changed later.
Hope you all have a lucky day

Morning. We had a busy weekend. It was lovely to see DD2 Friday night. She drove home after lunch on Saturday. It took four hours driving up on But only just over two going back. Fortunately I had all the presents organised for her to take home as we will see them after Christmas this year.
Gs came with DD1 for lunch Saturday and he stayed the night. He had the worst nights sleep since he was a toddler here. That and two visits to the park for him to be the only one there kicking a ball at goal and I feel worn out. When we came back from park yesterday DH could not get the oven to work at all. Might need a new one.

Sheils sounds as though the bug you picked up has been bad. A friend up north had a chest infection that went in a long time. Do hope you feel better soon. Good luck to your DS and GF. We have been to Austria many times but have to say only in the summer. Don’t think I could take the snow. It’s a beautiful country. We have stayed in Salzburg but otherwise in country places. We always found the people very friendly. Do wish them luck in their venture.

Indie hope you get your car sorted. Agree with you about work. Hope you have a relaxing week

April we know someone who did a similar course and it was very hard work and sadly she too did not go on to work in that field. Hope you do find a way to use your studies.

Well still lots if advents. Let’s hope we have some luck.
    Take care everyone.

    Hey, quick question.

Do you Compers ever tick the "Don't contact me box" after you tick the mandatory "Comp T&Cs" box? I feel like if I don't tick both then they might check to see if I'm subscribed to their newsletter (or whatever it may be) and redraw the winner if I ever do win (lol)

Luckily I have made a comping email address so it's no big difference to me, but I would still like to manage the amount of spam I get to this account when sifting through 'have you won?' etc emails..

    Thanks!

11 If you opt in or out of their mailing / 3rd party mailings, does it affect your chances?
I ALWAYS indicate a big fat 'no' to both of those, unless it is something that I'd really like to hear more about or a comp you enter by signing up for their newsletter.

It should make no difference to whether you are included in the comp or not, although some smaller companies may break the rules. I have to say I’ve been really lucky with wins & it seems to have made no difference whatsoever to my chances by always opting out where I can. It just means that I end up with less spam & on less junk mail lists.

    Morning,

Wet and miserable here as forecast. It is a shame as DS3's gf arrived late yesterday afternoon after a beautiful day here and going tomorrow so won't get a chance to see our town which is quite pretty with castle, harbour and marina as well as river walks.

Thanks re DS3 and Austria. I have never been there myself. They are going to St Anton near Innsbrook. Sounds like you have been busy with the family again leanfun.

Hope you are OK indie, didn't realise you were full of cold too.
Mine is getting slightly better every day but so slowly! Getting fed up of it now after 2 wks. Well done on Wilbur!

DS3 making steaks in pepper sauce tonght I think which will be nice although we can make them ourselves. Really prefer it when he makes something we can't do ourselves but think he fancies steaks!
    Must get on.

    Good Luck all. x

It’s very dark here today and raining. I’m resting between ironing and comps now.

Well done on Wilbur Indie. You started that cough ages ago. There seem to have been some terrible viruses about. Hope Doctor has been able to help. Great you have car fixed.

Sheils pleased you are a bit better. Shame DS’s GF missed seeing your town. We have never stayed in Innsbruck but have flown there and spent days there. Flying in once with DD2 and DS we were all in different seats. DD2 frightened the people next to her by describing how you fly into Innsbrook between hills or small mountains on either side. One Summer DH and I were not staying too far away and had a car we went to watch DH’s team playing a German team. The Germans let off enormous fireworks in the stadium during the match and there were planes flying low not a good experience.
Innsbruck had the winter Olympic Games years ago and I think there is a big sports centre there. Have to say we met a lot of Scottish people also on holiday in Austria. Sounds like a good adventure.

Firefly was pleased to see you had a win over in I Won, well done. Take care.

Forgot to say DH did some research online and yesterday afternoon we went to a small local independent electrical store and bought a new oven. If it comes early enough they will install on Thursday oh not Friday. I’m really pleased as I the last one was a nightmare. We bought it when we had the kitchen done and didn’t look into it enough. So hope New one will be better.

Well good luck everyone with Advents.

Morning,It's wet and very dark here today.just opened curtains but had to turn light on as was still dark. Glad you got a new oven leanfun, hope it comes early for you.
The pepper steaks sound nice sheils, glad to hear your cold is easing. I haven't had a cold lately but the last cold left me with a cough and wheezing. Dr took all my obs and they were ok . She said i didn't have Pneumonia after listening to my chest but must have heard something as she gave me anti-biotics for a week, and i know they don't like giving them out now.So hopefully the cough will go soon.
DS has appointment with crones specalist this afternoon so will be taking him to hospital. Then he has an appoinment with the DR tomorrow.Hope you all have a lucky day

    All I’ll say is it’s Friday 13th.......

Indie you must have been feeling bad these last few weeks. So pleased you went to the Drs. Do hope the antibiotics work for you and you are feeling better soon. Take care of yourself. Hope your DS had a positive visit to the specialist.

We didn’t have a phone call but big knock on the door after five last night. old oven out and new one in in no time.

Better try some comps. Good luck everyone.

    Morning
Glad your new oven is in now. Just in time for christmas leanfun. Well meds are working, cough has eased and not wheezing so much now. DS's visit to specialist didn't really confirm anything, they want him to have another scan in 3 months time. He had a regular Dr's appointment the next day and he has a chest infection so on anti-biotics as well. All we need now is his GF to go down with one and it will be the household. She is ok at the moment, hopefully stays that way.
I was at work yesterday, and quite a few staff have infections and colds ect, so have the residents. It's the time of the year.
It's a lovely sunny day here but it's freezing out. Just having a relaxing day today as working again tomorrow, hope you all have a lovely weekend.

    Hi all,

Cold windy day here but did get all the washing dry! Not doing any more until we come back from our trip. Really looking forward to just getting away and relaxing (especially in hot tub!) Not meaning to do that much apart from a trip to Scarborough. Not going until Monday though which will confuse me as usually get away on a Sunday.
Nominated DD for a prize on FB site and she has been picked so some sort of hamper will be arriving for her. Trying to keep it as a surprise, just hope it doesn't arrive while we are away.

Great the oven change over was efficient leanfun.

Glad the antibiotics are helping you indie. My mum was moaning at me for not going to Dr. She has had 2 lots and think dad has too.

    Good luck to all.
