Don't fall for iForce Maxx HCG free trial

My wife was browsing online a few days ago and came across this lot promoting a free trial of weight-loss pills; only p & p to pay (£4.99). After she'd looked round the internet all seemed above board, although no obvious terms and conditions on view. The company is based in the US, but also has a UK address. So she decided to sacrifice £4.99 to try out these pills.

After paying via credit card, she received an email, looked at the terms and conditions, and found in amoungst the tiny print that as a condition of the free trial, she'd been signed up for ongoing monthly deliveries of these pills for, wait for it, £89 per month.

She rang up the following day to cancel the free trial, the first person she spoke to hung up on her! So she setup a recording for her second call. Terms of cancellation of the 'free trial' are: only possible within the first 14 days; pills must be returned at customer's cost; ring back when the pills are received to request cancellation.

Question: in what way is this not a scam?

Hi, surveyqueenuk, I wasn't involved in this until things went terribly wrong. I searched the internet but couldn't find much info. I can tell you from the email sent by the company that the product is called 14 Day Trial iForce Maxx HCG Isolates Protoco.

I'll fire up her computer shortly and have a look through her internet history to try to get the website address for you. Hopefully you haven't been sucked into this as well, if so the following excerpt from the email she received may be of use: Please note that our support specialists are standing by from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM GMT, Monday through Friday to answer any questions or concerns you may have, so please feel free to call 0808 189 1278 for any reason.
If you ever wish to cancel, just contact one of our support specialists at the number above and we will be happy to assist you.

The other thing to note is that you only have 14 days from the date you ordered the free trial before they start charging the monthly payments!

Hi, surveyqueenuk, website address is http://order.iforcemaxx.com/?acid=1642&s1=174

If you fell into this trap let us know how you get on.

Current status with us is the package turned up on Saturday morning and was swiftly back at the post office to be returned by recorded delivery. The plan is to ring them up again Tuesday afternoon, hopefully they should have received the package back by then and should have no excuse not to cancel the monthly charges.

Apologies for any mis-types, I'm using my wifes computer, and am finding a pink keyboard and mouse strangely unsettling! :rotfl:

Cancel your card before they get your £89.00.
Even the guy at the bank knew about the product.
He has had so many calls.
Although it says in the Terms and Conditions( if you take the time to read)
£89.00 after 14 days.
It should say it in bold print as soon as you open the home page.

A bit drastic! I'm not sure that would work anyway with a repeating authorisation. The company taking the payment has to cancel the repeating authorisation. The government is consulting on whether the rules should be changed on this. Can't come too soon!

My wife couldn't find any; she did look. Maybe they were hidden away somewhere; I had a quick look afterwards, and couldn't see a link; not an obvious one anyway; maybe we didn't have your eagle eyes!

Couldn't agree more, bold print with a flashing warning.

That's why I posted here to hopefully stop others making the same mistake.

My wife rang them yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon; they had received the package back, so accepted our cancellation. We'll be keeping an eye on the credit card transactions around the 16th, which is when the first payment was due.

• I have had the same problem. I have cancelled any further transactions with my credit card company and raised a dispute. I tried contacting the "support team" but the number is permanently engaged (convenient). I emailed help@iforcemaxx to cancel my subscription that way and received an automated reply stating I can only cancel by calling the support team.
Any suggestions?
• omg what is this????couldnt understand why £189 had gone from my account!!!have got their num from my statement....no answer...been on hold 15 mins so yet more money they have took!!!iv not bought anything to do wth these products,so how have they got my card details???can anyone help me???

Will wait and see if I have any further problems.
• Hi Leaphase
What address did you return the product to? No one is answering the customer support number at all. Please help.
Thanx
