John Lewis Extended Warranty - Apple MacBook Air

I purchased a Mac Book air from JL and just over 1 year later the laptop died. It wouldn't switch on. I called Apple and they helped me do a system restart but the same problem occurred the next day.
As it was 23 days outside of the apple warranty they recommend I return the laptop to JL to fix. They said it was likely motherboard problem.
When I took it into the store the assistant managed to restart it agin but sent it off to be fixed.

They have called me today to advise the laptop is not working due to accidental damage and I need to pay over £800 to fix it. The laptop costs around that price fora brand new one.

There is absolutely no way any form of damaged occurred to the laptop.

I am so frustrated with their response.

Can anyone advise any steps I can take for them to deal with this fairly.

Take it back to Apple to diagnose the fault?

Louis Rossmann (youtube) gets tons of apple products that have never been damaged according to the customer. 90% of the time he finds moisture damaged inside the machines.

On odd occasions he finds lovely clean innards where there was a manufacturing fault.

You could see if your device is one he complains about with known faults or even learn howto fix it yourself.

As often happens on mse, the op posts once and never returns.

And it doesn't sound correct either as JL offer a 2 year warranty on laptops.

Maybe you need to read the OP again, it was returned under the JL warranty but it was determined by them that the fault wasn't covered.
