Sky buyout of O2 Broadband

With the news of Sky purchasing O2's broadband business in the UK, would there be any opportunity for me to cancel my contract? I know a contract is a contract, but I signed up to be with O2. I would hate to give BSkyB any of my money.
I am on a very good deal with O2, but would happily pay more to move to a company I trust. So is anyone aware if the purchase would give grounds to end a contract?

Unless Sky attempt to change t&c then I am afraid you are stuck with it.0

Unfortunately, that's what I thought.0

I guess 02 needed the money to pay for their 4G licence.
I for one welcome our American/Australian overload.
Anyhoo not bothered as I'm on Tesco Mobile! That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

IMHO the Sky broadband customer service was indeed very poor for the first couple of years, however its now very good.
O2 /BE users have nothing to fear, its not as though they have been bought by Talk Talk. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Its already going downhill mate. They deliberately underpower ADSL2+ lines to save on bandwidth = more ca$h in Murdoch's pocket. My brother in law gets 'only' 15 meg on a 21db atten Sky line (connected to master socket) on a 6db noise margin, whereas he should be getting > 20 meg. Sky deem this as perfectly acceptable :rotfl:0 -
Hey all,
3 months ago I entered into a 1 year contract with O2 broadband.
About a month after I joined them I received notification from BT that their new Infinity (super fast) broadband was now available in my street.
"Damn! I'm going to have to wait 11 months before I can enjoy this super fast internet access."
With Sky buying O2 broadband, can get out of the O2 contract?
I really hate Sky and don't want to give them my money, so I actually have two incentives to get out of this contract. Will it be possible, do you think. How could I find out?
Many thanks,

No -but if 02 contracts are converted to Sky BB accounts you'd be able to upgrade to Sky's Fibre service that uses the same set up as Infinity so might get the fibre service without having to wait the contract out. Depends how the takeover of accounts is handled but it may be to your advantage.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
