    Quick question:

Should I put my full name at the start or just my first name?

That's not the start anyway, due to the headings above it...as per the examples, your full name appears above the first point, with the other headings.

Layout examples are clearly linked as such from post #2 of the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread.

    Here's one:

I never do that because it doesn't help you to be given links in a 'hey presto' way. You need to know how to navigate the forum.

My signature does already tell you where to click (two clicks gets you to the NEWBIES thread where you need to read post #2). You will need that to know what to expect and do next, as defence is not your only job - and that's where the examples are.

£246 is tantamount to fraud imo, a lot more than the law allows. The solicitors know this but hope to sucker you into paying.

Even if they won their claim in court, which is unlikely as it looks as though no contract was ever entered into, the most a judge is likely to award would be £175 - £200, the rest is think of a number money.

I suggest that you complain to the regulatory body, the SRA about this demand for unlawful costs.

    http://www.sra.org.uk/home/home.page

    Also, complain to your MP

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of alleged contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and others have already been named and shamed in the House of Commons as have Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each week, hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned. They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct

The problem has become so widespread that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. It has even been suggested that some of these companies have links with organised crime.

Watch the video of the Second Reading and committee stage in the House of Commons recently. MPs have a very low opinion of this industry.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by early in the New Year.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

    What does it mean???

    Here is my interpretation:

    They have received your Defence.

They are going to send a copy of your Defence to the claimant (or their solicitor).

The claimant may contact you to try and resolve the dispute.

If the Claimant wants to continue with the claim they need to inform the court.

The court will then tell you what's going on.

The Claimant has 28 days to tell the court they wish to continue.

If after 28 days they have not responded to the court then the Claimant will have to pay some money if they wish to continue.

    Wasn't so difficult, was it?

Btw... I didn't make your link live because the image shows your full surname. You might want to deal with that.

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
