I was wondering about "Laura" too ....... something to think about when running, I suppose.
Anyone know who she is? Obviously, this is effectively a "radio" situation, not a "TV" one. I'd like to think that she was someone who had been through the programme - you know, moderately overweight Jeremy Kyle fan who used to eat 2 pizzas a day, who found a better life through exercise. "Been it, seen it, done it, got the t-shirt" kind of thing.
If I found out that she was 22 stone, but got the job because she has a nice voice I'd be a little disappointed. If she has always been fit, and has run marathons every weekend since she left school....... not really like me at all
Wonder if we'll ever know? I don't suppose it matters that much, if at all, but it's a bit odd to have someone involved in making a pretty significant change in your life, yet have absolutely no idea what that person looks like. The price of living in an image dominated society!
Will be doing week 2, run 2 later this morning; I'll report back later.
Cheers everybody!

Interesting article. .... she must be really intelligent as she has picked the same 3 days as me! (couldn't go as far as wearing a hat though.....)
So, she is "a" Laura............ is she "the" Laura?
Just completed week 2 run 2. I can't get the breathing to accord with the recommended 'in-2-3-4 out 2-3-4' .... Maybe that will come.
Cheers and well done to everybody!

Elfbert- i hope you are feeling better now!?
iammumtoone- well done for completing week 3! I agree with the cheeky runer, but i think you are right in saying he was trying to motivate you, LOL!
Wild Rover- good luck on todays run!
I actually find Laura quite helpful, especially when i hear 'you're almost done today' or 'you're halfway there'...when i feel like i'm dying it helps to keep me going!
She does have a bit of an irritating voice though!
I think i have heard somewhere that you can just download the music without the voice? Not sure though!0 -
Wild Rover, i cannot get the breathing in time either, but i am not too worried about that yet.
I have decided that i am going to run/walk the whole 5k instead of stopping and walking the rest of the way when the podcast has finished.0 -

You always get some odd people about.
I was out on a interval / recovery run and someone ran past me busting a gut. He turned to me and said you can put more effort in than that. I just pointed out that I was doing a recovery run and the 8 min per mile is around 140 BPM heart rate. I did tell him that I only had another half mile left at that pace. 1/2 mile later my watch beeped and I went straight past him...may have had a sneak comment of "Are you not going to keep up?"
I just greet people whilst out running as you never know what training they are doing. Running is all about levels of effort, someones flat out may be 15 mins per mile vs someones flat out at 5 mins per mile. Who's putting in the most effort?“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0 -
Week 6 day 1 (back to running and walking instead of just running) was WORSE than the week 5 day 3 - not sure why, although I do do an exercise class on a Sunday (my 'rest' day from this) and it consisted of 4 lots of different Sally Up/Sally Down challenges so my legs were in bits from that - did the 20 min run on Saturday and was ok till minute 18, this time minute 4 was an !!!!0

These stories make me glad I do it on a treadmill. Although people come beside me and go faster I'm usually on for the longest. I wish people would mind their own business. No-one knows anyone else's journey!0 -

I have to admit although I'm just about to start week 8, now that it's block runs I'm pretty much doing my own thing. I can't run for 25mins solid so tend to run/jog/ walk. I still think it's better than nothing. I will still aim for 5k in 30mins, even if this takes a year!! I might even redo the programme again when I'm done at a faster pace.0 -
I am attempting week 3 day 1 this afternoon. I'm a little nervous about it, but am going to just try it.0
