Parkmobile have charged me illegally

I just noticed that Parkmoblie have charged me 10 pence -

Has anyone else encountered random charges from Parkmobile?

There is no way to delete your own account on their web site. Very frustrating as their terms say you have to go to the people that operate the car park and get the money back from them!

Any ideas / help would be gratefully received.

Cheers

Tell your bank it's an unauthorised transaction.

IME, these silly little charges are often the precursor to someone trying to rip you-off for a whole lot more. Last three or four times this happened to me, I hot hit with a 25p charge, then a four-figure sum to an online casino..

Could be that Parkmobile have their own fraud problem or someone has cracked their database.

Personally I'd be on to my bank's security line and have this card cancelled ASAP.

I had a similar one for £1, have you recently paid a parking ticket (council) ?
  • It is nearly 2 weeks ago when I emailed their support team to cancel my account and refund me.
    They have made no reply.
Their telephone contact number incurs a call charge of 10p per minute.
What a sham these people are.

I have had no parking dues at all. I always go out with change to avoid paying through a payment intermediary like Park Mobile.

I'd suggest contacting them on twitter @ParkmobileUK that might speed matters along.

These are conflicting statements. How can you contact them to cancel an account, if you never had an account in the first place?

If you DO have an account then the 2nd statement is patently false.
  • For those of you interested - I did get the indemnity claim, or credit card guarantee paid back by calling the card provider. They also agreed that this 10p charge was potentially a fraudsters 1st attempt to hack the card and have destroyed that account.

The required mode of approach to make a complaint or have any questions answered requires you to email them. They do not provide a free phone number - because they can charge you bucks through a high cost customer support number.

However, I have still not had confirmation that they have deleted my account. If this has not been confirmed by the time the GDPR laws come in I will challenge it via the UK's Information Commissioner's Office.

Any one using these apps needs to be very very careful. There is a lot of sneaky over charging happening across all the major parking apps providers and it is a growing area demanding stricter regulation.

Like I say - try to have the right change before leaving the house and avoid paying through an intermediary as there is considerable evidence of these companies exploiting people who have accounts with them.
  • Finally - 6 weeks later and I get a confirmation that they have deleted the account.

Why did you have an account in the first place if 'you always go out with change'?

I used Parkmobile the first time 2 weeks ago, within days 2 fraudulent transactions, for small amounts were taken, via the app, then attempts were made to spend several thousand pounds on my credit card. Is the app even a genuine app? Or are Parkmobile just a front for huge credit card fraud?
