  • Ouch to the OH's slipped disc, I had one about 8 years ago and had to have surgery on it.

You don't mind me asking how long it took to recover from this surgery? I know it will differ from person to person.

    Not at all :)

I was in and out of hospital in 4 days, up and walking within a day, had physio for about 4 weeks and then given exercises to strengthen my core muscles at home.

I had the op in July and was upright and walking fine by my brothers wedding came around in November. I do still have the odd twinge, that's because there is a weakness there but generally a few paracetamol and it sorts it self out.

It's still a lengthy enough recovery. DH thinks he would probably be back to work a few weeks after surgery.

Yes it is and it would also depend on what DH does for a living. I was told absolutely no heavy lifting for at least 6 weeks and that I could drive once I felt comfortable enough.

He is a gardener so definitely will effect him. At the moment he is just ploughing on (excuse the pun :rotfl:).

  • Has he looked at physio? It may help him rather than going for surgery and he'd be back at work fairly quickly.

So thought I would add my credit union loan into my overall amount bring my 1% extra payment up to £75 per month. The balance on this is £524.39 with my shares £2,179.53. I pay £130 to this every month but that does not reduce what I owe by £130 as there is also interest to pay and a bit into shares. I need to hoke out the paperwork for this to see what is the actual amount that goes to the loan.

I also have a car loan which is not included in all this but once I get all the rest sorted I would look at this one. I think I have 3 years still to pay on this.

I think we may have had that convo at some point but I can't remember what he said. I'll talk to him and see what he says.
